Sinking Her Teeth into Real Estate

It happens to the best of us—we start a job, get comfortable with the daily routines, expectations, and, become friends with our co-workers and boss. Next thing we know, ten, 15, 20 years have gone by. That was Jennifer Fischer’s situation. She was happily working as the Office Manager of a dental practice when she began to have a nagging feeling she needed a career change.
“I was at a point where I wanted to have a business of my own, so I decided to take real estate classes. My stepson, Ryan, was interested in real estate as well, so we took the classes and even our tests together. It was really fun.”
Jennifer started slowly, helping friends and family buy and sell their homes. While she enjoyed it, she was hesitant to jump in with both feet, and she worried about leaving the dental office in a bind, “Managing other people, and their lives, there never seemed to be a good time to leave. I’m a very committed person.” explained Jennifer. It was the advice and support of her husband, Jeff, who convinced her to move forward, “He said, ‘Jenny, there’s never going to be a good time to put in your notice. They can function without you.’”

“I reminded myself that I got my real estate license to have the independence of my own schedule and better control of my life. So, I started running with it and it has been great ever since.”  This month marks one year since Jennifer joined Keller Williams Community Partners full-time. She found her niche with for sale by owner. She calls those sellers and explains why the support and expertise of a REALTOR® are beneficial, “I look at it like a challenge, and I love a good challenge. Sixty percent of my business is for sale by owner.”
It has been a year of change for Jennifer and her family. She has quickly grown her business, closing more than four million in sales, achieving a post on the Associate Leadership Council, her husband retired, and sadly, they recently lost their beloved Golden Retriever, xxxxx.
This past fall, Jennifer started what will become and annual coat drive to give back to the community. She works with the non-profit, Threads of the Miami Valley in Miamisburg. Her efforts provided about 150 coats for the program.
Jennifer’s first year proved time consuming, but with a strong client base, she’s looking forward to spending more time in the coming year with her four children, two stepchildren, and five grandchildren.
Her only regret? “I wish I would have started this earlier. I absolutely love my job!”
