Chris Cartwright, CEO of Landmark Title Agency South

From Teacher to CEO

2019 Circle of Excellence Award Ninth year running

Choosing a career path is difficult. Sticking to that path can be even harder. Just ask Chris Cartwright, CEO of Landmark Title Agency South.

Chris’ first career was as an elementary school teacher in Troy. But it wasn’t long before her heart led her in a completely different direction—real estate. Chris jumped into her new calling, earned her broker’s license and began making her mark in the Dayton area.

Once immersed in the real estate community, Chris saw another change on the horizon, but this move complimented what she was already doing. Reflecting on her experience with all aspects of the industry, Chris found one specific part of the home-buying process very appealing. Following her heart, she dove into the title business, and before long, she and a colleague, Karen Brown, decided to go out on their own and opened Landmark Title Agency.

“Coming from the background of a real estate broker, I strive to work alongside the mortgage originators and real estate professionals using a ‘team approach’ to facilitate the closing transaction,” says Chris.

Other than adding the word "south" to the company name, Chris and Karen haven’t changed how they run their business. Since day one, the focus has always been on customer commitment.

“We pride ourselves on excellent customer service for the consumer, and I think our quantitative years of experience is what sets us aside from the competition. When you contact Landmark, you will speak to a ‘real’ person who cares very much about answering your questions promptly and expertly,” explains Chris.

A Leading Title Agency
Over the last 20 years, Landmark Title Agency South has been recognized locally and state-wide for its impact on the title insurance industry.

As reported by the Dayton Business Journal, it was named “Top Six Title Companies” in Ohio by its underwriter, Fidelity National. When it comes to career recognition, Chris is no stranger to the spotlight. In 2017, the Dayton Mortgage Brokerage Association named her Member of the Year and prior to that presented her with its Hall of Fame award for outstanding service and leadership.

Humbly, Chris admits it’s nice to be recognized for her work and the work of her staff but finds satisfied clients and the relationships that follow the most rewarding parts of the business.

“We believe in building strong relationships … relationships are the cornerstone of every closing, every transaction, and every deal. Each day, our loyal Landmark Team works hard to enable and protect real estate ownership for our residential and commercial customers.”

Personal Interests
When it’s time to take a breather from the job, you’ll find Chris enjoying her downtime with husband, Tim Mundy. He has owned his own company, My Lawn Landscaping, for more than 40 years. So, it’s quite common that evening conversations surround the successes and challenges of running their companies.

Ironically, their personal situation had Chris thinking about her clients. “My husband and I recently merged our households, so I have all the empathy in the world for those customers who are packing and organizing and handling details of their move.”

To reduce that stress, the company provides clients with boxes for packing, important numbers to call and even suggests care of their pets during the move. If you knew Chris that wouldn’t surprise you. She’s a long-time supporter of the Humane Society of Greater Dayton as well as SICSA.

Just goes to show, personal and professional passions often blend well.
