Chris Gomez

From South Carolina to the South of Spain

From South Carolina to the South of Spain, Chris Gomez is a man who works hard and plays hard. A devoted husband to his wife, Kety, and father to Fernando (15), Ketina (14), and Inés (8), he attributes his strong family values to his parents. Chris says, “I feel extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to grow up in essentially two different worlds and I owe this thanks to my parents, who made sacrifices for my brother and me to do this.” He continues, “Both my parents were deaf, and my dad didn’t even speak English.”

Chris has lived on Hilton Head Island since he was 1 year old and stayed on the island through the end of middle school. He considers himself lucky to have been able to spend three or four months every year in Spain. He eventually moved there and started his career in trade marketing for Coca-Cola. “I even married a girl from southern Spain, and two of our three children were born in Spain!” Shortly after moving back to the States, Chris opened a real estate brokerage with his brother.

Chris has been in the real estate business for over 18 years, but that’s not all he’s involved in. Kety and he own HH Cleaning Services LLC, a full-service cleaning and laundry business servicing the Hilton Head and Bluffton communities. They also co-own Namaste Spa LLC, a luxury spa located at Marriott’s Barony Beach Club, and they recently opened a second location at Marriott’s Grande Ocean Resort.

Chris wants to be remembered for more than just his work. His family comes first, and he never forgets that. He realizes that nothing he leaves behind will matter to him if his children don’t turn out to be happy, hardworking, honest, and loving individuals. His biggest reason for success right now? Hands down, it’s his wife, Kety. “She is my personal motivator, and I can honestly say that without her support, I wouldn’t have had the same success.” Chris and Kety are passionate about travel and giving their children the gift of the cultural experiences and travel they themselves experienced growing up. Every summer, the family takes extensive breaks to go back to their happy places on the beach in southern Spain, and they enjoy short trips to places like Disney and Miami. Chris is grateful for the other passions he’s enjoyed in his life. He is a diehard fan of Real Madrid futbol and loves fashion — something he thanks his father, a master tailor, for fostering in him.

Chris’ biggest career goal is to continue to work in real estate while growing his other businesses. He’s got a natural talent for business development, and he attributes that to the work ethic he observed in his parents, saying, “Witnessing their success, with all the obstacles they faced, had a tremendous influence on my life and has shaped me to be the person I am today.” Chris works hard to deliver exactly what his clients want and expect, and says he won’t quit until he meets every expectation. His biggest challenge in everyday business is delegation. He ruefully says, “I sometimes have a hard time passing on responsibilities. Although I feel like I’m being efficient, it’s probably counterproductive to not rely on others.” This self-awareness, mixed with his strong work ethic and genuine love of human connection, is a big part of his business success. He advises new agents that although it is hard work in the beginning, and it’s easy to get discouraged, if they put enough time, effort, and passion into their business, they will almost always produce results.
