Monterey County Real Producers…  we are checking in with preferred partner, Nick Olguin of Prime Real Estate Media.  (You might also know him and his name from his awesome photo shoots for the magazine or you’ve worked with him on your current listing to get it to market.) Either way, let’s hear what he has to say…

“I was born and raised in Hollister. I attended Gavilan College and Phoenix University before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. As a Marine I had two job assignments, the first was with the Infantry where I was assigned to the FAST (Fleet Anti-Terrorist Security Team). My division was a small unit designed for quick reaction force. For instance, we could quickly deploy to fortify U.S. embassies around the world if they were under threat of, or actually under attack. My second deployment was with LAR (Light Armored Reconnaissance), our job was to gather enemy intelligence – location and equipment so that we could give the landing team or infantry forces the best route to take on the ground.”

I have been stationed in some pretty amazing and exotic locations around the world – Spain, Cuba, Greece, and Japan. As a soldier, I really enjoyed my job and felt it was my patriotic duty to serve our country. If we ever go to war again, I would proudly re-enlist and continue to serve our country.”

“One of the benefits of being deployed overseas is enjoying experiencing the world. I have to say that Greece was my favorite posting, the waters there are so incredibly clear and beautiful. I enjoyed cliff diving on my days off.”

After Nick left the military and returned stateside, he fell into depression. To take himself outside of his head and find ways to heal, he began taking pictures of his animals.

“A friend asked me if I would co-film his wedding. From there my photography and a new line of work skyrocketed and I found myself in business. I’ve shot weddings and lifestyle photography for years. More recently I’ve been shooting real estate photography.”

Working as a photographer for five years, Nick’s love of the camera took him to work in the real estate world a year ago. “The challenge to move slower and capture the right angle in a house is my goal. But I’m enjoying the process. I’m pretty shy so I’ve had to really push myself out of my comfort zone to talk more with realtors,” he confesses. “I enjoy listening and watching realtors; hearing their professional sales tactics is interesting because they vary in each individual’s approach. I have learned a lot from them - what to look for in a house, how to invest, and what a house offers to each buyer.”

When he’s not behind the camera’s lens, Nick enjoys a wide variety of hobbies. He likes to go wakeboarding, ride dirt bikes, and care for the animals he shares with his fiancé, Erynn Torquato. The couple has five horses. Nick enjoys leisure horseback riding, and of course, shooting photography. “Erynn is a Vet. Tech. She boards horses and trains children to ride and barrel race horses,” Nick explains.

“I am driven to be the best version of myself – and I want to be the best at what I do, and work to the best of my abilities in all aspects of my life. I definitely don’t like to fail! I have a strong work ethic and am disciplined to take care of my mind and body, it’s the only one I‘ve got after all!”

“I look forward to working in real estate photography for many years to come, and invite you to check out my work as I partner with realtors to provide the best Prime Real Estate Media for you and your client!”
