Drew Halvorson and Rusty Johnson are two who share that same spirit.

Sharing the Same Spirit of Achievement

As team leaders of The Insight Group at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Ambassador Real Estate, Drew and Rusty demonstrate their dedicated drive for helping others.

“One of the things that makes us feel good is when our clients say that they appreciate how we have the ability to make them feel like they are our only client,” Rusty says.

“We are both the kind of people who, when we do something, we give it 150 percent every time. Our clients know and trust that we work in their best interests and put ourselves in their shoes,” Drew adds. “That’s where our clients circle back, knowing we go above and beyond to put them in the best situation throughout the entire time and make them feel comfortable.”

Beginning Their Journey in the Business
Rusty got his start in the business in 2011, with Drew beginning his journey in the business in 2013.

Drew was born and raised in Omaha. He was exposed to the business at an early age. His grandfather owned a large real estate company in northeast Iowa.

“I grew up around that with him as a kid, and as I went to college at Nebraska, I was an entrepreneurship major with a management and finance minor. I was the first person to graduate with an entrepreneurship major.”

While Drew was there, he also started CEO, the Collegiate Entrepreneurship Organization. Through his collegiate career, real estate kept coming to the surface. At one point, he had met a gentleman from Oxford, England, who had his own real estate company there. After graduation, Drew visited the man, who encouraged Drew to consider real estate as a career. Drew had seen what he wanted to; when he returned to the U.S., he earned his license and began his journey.

Rusty says his start in the business was accidental. He had grown up in Lincoln and earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. In 2005, he moved to Phoenix. It didn’t take long for real estate to come into view for him at the time.

“I purchased a house with a friend. I ended up buying a house, not knowing what I was looking for. I didn’t ask a lot of questions. And then, the housing bubble burst and I needed to do a short sale. I was figuring out what I wanted to do and was naturally drawn to improving houses,” Rusty says.

“That turned into an architecture passion. Anything to do with remodels and making a property better. I’m big on mid-century architecture, modern homes and anything unique. I got drawn into real estate and moved back to Omaha in 2011. I got my license right away and joined Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.”

Joining Forces
Initially, Drew and Rusty were part of the same team for a few months. In time, Rusty started The Insight Group for a couple of years. Eventually, the two men worked on a transaction together and decided to join forces.

As Drew says, “We both share the same vision for remodeling and adding value. We don’t work with the attitude that one plus one equals two but to make it three … and to make it beneficial for our team and our clients by approaching what we do in a different way.”

Excelling with Teamwork
Today, Rusty and Drew are proud to work with their talented team that has grown organically through time, including Michael, Dani, Julia, Mike and Brittany. Their results have been truly impressive. In 2022, the team finished with over $50 million in sales volume. In turn, they were awarded in the top 10 of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices based on their team size. Along the way, they have earned Berkshire Hathaway Legend status, and are among the top 1 percent in the company.

“Our underlying approach is taking care of clients, which leads to referrals, which leads to continued business,” Rusty says. “We are pretty diverse, as well, with business in existing sales, new construction, luxury, small acreage is and investments. One thing about Drew and I is, we have clients who are looking for investment properties and have multiple new construction projects going on. It’s about being incredibly diverse and being able to accommodate our clients by providing full-service solutions.”
