Entrepreneurs have the grit, drive and determination to blaze their own trail in life. Meet Patty Marquez, Producing Branch Manager at Cardinal Financial LLC - The Phoenix, who recognized her entrepreneurial side when she was a child.  

 

“I started a newspaper publication for my neighborhood when I was just 10 years old,” she says. She would sell subscriptions with articles about what was going on in school and in the neighborhood. One of her friend’s mothers still has the articles to this day, a treasured keepsake. When she was a child, Patty used to play office, using carbon copies from old invoices her mom was given when she used to clean offices. The newspaper was also born from reusing the carbon copy papers.  Not to mention operating a lemonade stand and selling candies to the neighborhood kids or doing cheers for 25 cents for people.

 

“I’ve always been a hustler and had something going on,” reflects Patty.

 

A first-generation Mexican American, Patty’s heritage still runs deep. She got her break in the industry 19 yrs ago as only one of two Spanish-speaking lenders in the Permian Basin.

“I always had a dream of doing something bigger, but not knowing what it was.” Little did she know that Patty would blaze her own trail in the mortgage industry.

 

In total, she has 19 years of experience in mortgages. In 2012, she went out on her own and opened her own branch.

 

 

With her team, Patty opened her own branch and is proud to be the Producing Branch Manager at Cardinal Financial LLC - The Phoenix. Branching out on her own gave her more work-life flexibility and the time to be with her children. 

“I scaled down the growth a little bit and wanted to concentrate on my community more and not expand to all of Texas,” she says. Now Patty works with her trusted core group of professionals.

Ethan Baeza and her son, Noah Valenzuela, both work as loan originators. Noah also helps as her loan partner. “My niece Daniela Marquez works as my loan partner,” adds Patty. She also is thankful for Irma Ortiz, a loan processor who has been working with her from the start.

 

Recently, Patty rebranded the name of her business from the Cardinal Financial Patty Marquez Group to Cardinal Financial LLC - The Phoenix. She explains, “I have gone through struggles personally that have affected me through the years.” The phoenix is a symbol of rising from the ashes and proving victorious over life circumstances. It’s all about coming back stronger.

 

 

What sets Patty apart from her competition is making lending not intimidating for her clients. She says, “We make it attainable for everyone and we do loans that other people can’t do. We have great rates, excellent service, and great products. Service is where we excel.” Patty and her team are also bilingual, which is important for their Hispanic clients.

 

 

In addition to having the Cardinal Financial LLC - The Phoenix, Patty launched Temptations Jewelry, which she started working on late last year. This brand new start-up business is her latest venture, which is also her daughter Emmalynn Valenzuela’s business.

 

“I also do some credit coaching,” she adds. This goes hand in hand with her mortgage business by helping people get out of debt. She coaches people on how to repair their credit and holds their hand throughout the process.

 

 

A single mother, Patty cherishes time with her four children, including her two sons Jacob Valenzuela and Rylan Hererra, as well as her two grandchildren.

 

“My parents are extremely proud of me,” she says. Patty has accomplished so much in life thus far and much more to come. “It’s such a blessing to be in the U.S. by birth.”

  

 

“I love helping people and as always, connecting dreams,” concludes Patty. When people put their trust in her, it’s a great feeling. She wouldn’t have it any other way.
