Guiding Homebuyers on a Journey to Their Dream Homes
Tim Powell is an experienced real estate professional with a passion for helping individuals and families find their ideal homes. From his early life in Dexter, Michigan, to his successful journey in the real estate industry, Tim's story is one of dedication, perseverance, and a genuine commitment to his clients' happiness. He has had 27 years in real estate and he has thoroughly loved every moment of it.
Childhood Roots and Strong Family Ties
Growing up in a close-knit community, Tim had the privilege of living two doors down from his mother’s parents and a mile and a half away from his paternal grandmother. “I grew up with family all around,” he smiles. “They say it takes a village,” he jokes. His father is one of 10 children. Being surrounded by a large, supportive family meant the world to him.
“I’m a fourth generation Dexter High School graduate,” he adds proudly. “My mom and dad were graduates of Dexter High School as well as my dad’s father and grandfather.” He followed in their footsteps.
Early Aspirations and the Road to Real Estate
Fascinated by the design and intricacies of homes, Tim initially envisioned a career as an architect. However, after researching the schooling requirements and considering his artistic abilities, he realized that a different path would suit him better. Tim pursued a business and accounting education at Eastern Michigan University while working for Norfolk Homes under Tom Franke. This early exposure to the real estate industry sparked his passion and set him on a trajectory towards a fulfilling career. He got his real estate license in 1995.
“For the first 5 years I was with Norfolk, I worked on the business and accounting side,” he reflects. “I moved over to the sales side in the beginning of 1995. I did new construction, opened new sites for them, and trained new sales associates.” In 1997, he came back to sell in his hometown of Dexter. “That’s when things started to really take off for me. I knew I was in the right industry.” Through the years, he made great connections with real estate agents and brokers. He also earned the prestigious New Construction Salesperson Award in 2004 before moving to Reinhart Realtors at the end of 2009.
In 2010, Tim earned the Rookie of the Year title at Reinhart Realtors. Throughout his career, Tim has faced various challenges, but his positive attitude, resilience, and ability to find opportunities in every situation have allowed him to overcome them and thrive.
He has learned to “roll with the punches” with his resilience in his real estate career. “I make lemonade out of lemons,” he comments. With his optimism, positive attitude, and good communication skills, he pushes through any challenge in his career.
The Fulfillment of Helping Others Find Their Homes
For Tim, success is not solely defined by financial achievements but rather by the fulfillment and happiness he experiences in his career and personal life. Guiding individuals and families through the home-buying process, witnessing their excitement at closing, and building lasting relationships with clients are what truly bring him joy. As he says, “Helping people with the biggest purchase of their life is pretty rewarding.” Tim's dedication to his clients and his genuine care for their well-being make him a trusted and respected real estate professional.
“I am a firm believer that a partnership doesn’t end when a deal closes - my clients can expect me to be with them every step of the way.” Whether it's touring a home, making an offer, or even finding the right moving company, Tim's clients can count on his knowledge, honesty, and guidance throughout every step of the process.
Future Goals and a Love for the Outdoors
As Tim looks ahead, he plans to continue building a strong business while finding a balance that allows him to enjoy the smaller things in life. Retirement is on the horizon, but he envisions staying connected to the real estate industry in some capacity, driven by his love for work.
“I love what I do,” he smiles. “I will always do something real estate related.”
Outside of his profession, Tim is an avid golfer. He jokes, “I’m not a great golfer.” He also enjoys traveling, and finds solace in the great outdoors, whether it's through yard work or exploring nature.
Family and Community Impact
Tim's family, especially his parents and his supportive wife Cathy, who is in the mortgage industry, have played significant roles in his life and career. Their unwavering support and belief in his abilities have propelled him forward and instilled in him the values of compassion, dedication, and community involvement. Tim has actively participated in organizations such as the Ann Arbor Board of Realtors, the Reinhart Charitable Foundation, and supports the Humane Society, Special Olympics and donates a portion of his yearly sales to United Way and cancer research. All these endeavors demonstrate his commitment to give back to the community that has given him so much.
Selling More Than Just Houses
Above all, Tim Powell wants to be recognized as someone who understands the true essence of his work. He believes that selling homes is about far more than just bricks and mortar; it is about helping individuals and families embark on life-changing journeys. Tim approaches each transaction with care and recognizes the profound impact it has on his clients' lives. With deep gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of these important moments, Tim remains committed to providing exceptional service and ensuring his clients' dreams come true. To Tim, being part of the American Dream for the families that he serves is nothing short of priceless.
