Taryn Byron – Juggling Real Estate Sales, Developer Lease Ups and (Most Importantly) Being “Mom”

As a 20-year veteran, Taryn Byron is a leading real estate agent with Corcoran Infinity Properties in Alpine who focuses on luxury home sales and on new multi-family lease ups/sellouts for developers.

Taryn has a nine-year-old son. As a single parent, finding the balance between work and home is tough, but having strong boundaries and ensuring that she makes time for being "Mom" is very important to her. It is also great that her son, now that he is older, can come to preview properties with her. He loves real estate and enjoys being a part of Mom's work.

Taryn grew up in real estate (her family owned a real estate office) and while there is very little that surprises her, she still had to follow the learning curve. “My drive and thick skin is what makes me a top producing agent. It is not an easy business, and you do deal with a lot of rejection. Understanding that part of your success as an agent is to move through rejection at full speed and not let it slow you down is so important. This did not come easy to me. It is something that I learned over many, many years in this business. My advice to new agents is - do not give up! Be consistent and stay focused.”

She started her real estate career giving computer lessons to agents when the MLS first switched over from book format to internet. She was 12 and sat in the MLS class to learn how to work the system knowing nothing at all about homeownership. From there, she worked as a front desk receptionist at a family real estate office and then went to college for architecture and business management. She worked through college with a Hoboken developer doing clerical work. Then she moved to northern California after graduating and worked as a construction project manager building vineyard estates in Sonoma County. After getting homesick, she went back to Hoboken and started working with the same developer, this time, as an owner’s rep and agent. She transitioned into the real estate office manager and then transitioned to her role as a stay-at-home mom. After getting divorced, she had to re-start her life and hopped back into what she knew best - real estate. So, she focused on putting all of her skills to use and began working on new development sell out and lease ups and luxury real estate. She certainly has worn many hats!

For her new development work she has an on-site team who handles the day-to-day appointments, while she manages all of the marketing and developer meetings. For her luxury home sellers, she handles most all of that as an individual agent. This ensures giving each of her clients the highest level of service. Clients who work with Taryn appreciate so much about her, starting with the fact that she is highly organized and efficient with her time. "My ultimate goal is to make the process as smooth as possible by being proactive to anticipate their needs while never leaving them in the dark in terms of 'the next steps in their transaction. I negotiate each contract as if it were my own and strive to take all the worry out of the entire experience."
Taryn says, “The best part about being a realtor is being able to help people with such a significant step in their lives. Where you live is such a personal choice and it is such an amazing thing to be able to be a part of that process with people. Many times, clients are moving for various reasons - new job, marriage, new baby, divorce, retirement, and so many others. The hardest part is maintaining a good balance between work and personal. It can be easy to work 24/7/365 but it is also important to stop and do things for yourself too. “

Taryn thinks the Corcoran brand is great and offers a lot to its agents. She works mostly along NJ's Gold Coast - from Jersey City to Alpine which covers Hudson and Bergen Counties. She is also licensed in NY.
She volunteers with her local church and also with Corcoran Infinity Properties. She also donates to several special needs children's charities locally. To unwind, she enjoys retail therapy, a nice beach and entertaining and cooking for family and friends. As well as travelling to Miami and Europe.
