Meet Insurance Agent Ken White with the North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company
Protecting People and their Possessions, One Policy at a Time!
Making a difference is what it’s all about for Ken White, an insurance agent with North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company. He finds his work rewarding, especially knowing that he makes a positive difference in a client’s life, especially if they are going through a tragedy or some sort of accident that could have been a financial disaster.
“Going back to my sense of purpose, I feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction knowing that I helped protect that client’s standard of living,” comments Ken.
Ken, who bases his recommendations for insurance based on the needs of his clients, always puts his clients first. Protecting their way of life through insurance and financial products is what he does best.
He comments, “Our company is local to North Carolina and committed to providing excellent service to our members from the time our insured takes out their first policy to when they are going through an insurance claim. Our company motto is ‘Helping You is What We Do Best’.” Ken has adopted that motto into his business.
Ken is proud to have earned insurance industry designations of LUTCF, FSS and CLU. Serving others is near and dear to his heart, and he is honored to have served in the Army National Guard for 10 years.
Standing the Test of Time
With 25 years of employment at Farm Bureau, he has stood the test of time. Ken comments, “Previously I worked for the Sherwin Williams Company and had moved from Asheboro, NC to Savannah, GA.” He worked in management at Sherwin Williams for 8 years, teaching him discipline, perseverance and sales training.
“When my wife and I decided it was time to come back to North Carolina, I was fortunate enough to join the Farm Bureau in my hometown of Whiteville, NC. I was in the Whiteville office for 4 years prior to transferring to the Southport office in Brunswick County in 2002.”
The work was different from what he had experienced previously. Ken explains, “Selling homeowners insurance as well as other lines of insurance in a coastal county is very different from inland territories within the state. We have additional challenges that we have to deal with and I think these challenges help you grow as an insurance agent.” Ken is eager to overcome obstacles and become the best that he can be. He comments, “My goal is to provide the best service possible to my clients and then my personal goals will fall into place.”
He wouldn’t be where is today without his wife Susan. He comments, “My biggest supporter is my wife.” This successful entrepreneur has a heart of gratitude for her. Ken also draws inspiration from his upbringing on a family farm, instilling in him a sense of discipline, perseverance, and a deep understanding of the value of hard work. He worked there until he graduated from UNCW with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.
Focused on Family
When not working, Ken treasures time with Susan and their children, Drew Stephens, Kayla White, and Aaron White. All the children have graduated college and are now on their own. Drew lives in Clover, SC, Kayla lives in Concord, NC, and Aaron is in Raleigh, NC. To relax, Ken and Susan enjoy traveling and getting together with the children for the occasional long weekend. Ken also delights in riding his motorcycle and playing golf.
A supporter of various charities, Ken also gives back to the R. Flake Shaw Scholarship that Farm Bureau awards to students pursuing higher education in an agricultural-related discipline. Giving back and making a positive impact on the lives of others is near and dear to Ken’s heart. He and his wife are people of faith and are also members of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Living by the Golden Rule
In both life and business, Ken lives by the golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." This guiding principle underscores his commitment to treating his clients with respect, empathy, and integrity. Ken's unwavering dedication, coupled with his passion for protecting others, has made him an invaluable asset to Farm Bureau and the clients he serves.
