“Our goal every day is to leave the office knowing that we helped somebody else,” says Jonathan Peele, founder and President of Coastline Insurance Associates. “We focus on helping, not selling. I think that our focus on service instead of sales numbers separates us from most of our competitors.” It’s about people, not profit to Jonathan and his dedicated team.

 

“I really strive to go to work every day with the goal of helping others. This focus has really helped me find the stresses each day a little easier to deal with,” he points out.

 

In an age of uncertainty, he helps clients protect their assets. Jonathan finds his profession rewarding, helping his clients understand their insurance products and assisting them in navigating through claims. He and his team always strive to be responsive, dependable, and professional.

 

“I also have a passion to coach others, and I’m really motivated to help each of my teammates grow professionally in their career,” comments Jonathan. He wants his staff to have long and rewarding careers.

 

 

Jonathan, who graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in Finance, opened his business in September 2010, and has since opened three offices located in Southport, Oak Island, and Wrightsville Beach.

 

Why insurance? It was a means to help others, something that is near and dear to Jonathan’s heart. “I discovered that the insurance business would give me the means to help others by protecting their assets and helping them understand their risk,” he says.

 

He got his start selling life insurance. He reflects, “I did that for two years and I realized that I really liked the insurance business, but I also realized that I wasn’t a great salesperson. I’m a better advisor, so that’s how I run my business today.”

 

Reflecting on his journey, Jonathan acknowledges his mother's significant impact on his personal and professional growth. Growing up, she instilled in him the values of hard work and helping others. “She was the director of a non-profit family services agency, so she also inspired me to give back and volunteer,” he explains. “I also must give credit to my wife Beth, because she has sacrificed our time together so that I could stay late or work on weekends to help my clients. She has been my biggest fan and I have to thank her for supporting me.”

 

Another key figure in his life was Walter Hester, Jonathan’s mentor. “He taught me a lot about insurance, but the most important lesson he taught me was to focus on providing the best service to my clients and referral partners,” he reflects. There is no substitute for service.

 

Jonathan would not be where he is today without the support of the community and he has a heart of gratitude for them. As Jonathan says, “A small business must have the support of their community to be successful. We have a lot of great referral partners that have trusted us to help their clients and we can’t thank them enough for that trust.”

 

This small business owner is committed to the community. Coastline Insurance Associates supports the local non-profits through sponsorships, donations, and volunteering time. “There’s really too many to list,” notes Jonathan, “but I’m a big believer in supporting organizations that are making a difference in our community.”

 

Jonathan is a man of purpose and passion as well as vision. He says, “I want to have a few more offices in the near future or acquire another insurance agency.” With helping others as his mission, he is making a difference for others in the local area. Safeguarding assets and protecting people makes for a rewarding career for this business leader.
