Jon Crompton
Consistently looking ahead to the future, Jon Crompton of Keller Williams has built his career off of always knowing what’s next, and how he can best help his clients not just with their sales, but their future by staying one step ahead of the market. It’s the reason for his ultimate success in the Charleston market. Selling over $90 million over the duration of his career is proof enough he is exactly where he should be.
“I moved in October of 2003 to Charleston. I quickly landed a job as a swim coach, swim instruction and lifeguard instructor over at the R. L. Jones center for the town of Mt. Pleasant, and since I was a competitive swimmer growing up, it was a good/fun fit. After a few years of working for the town, I decided to get into real estate at the age of 24, which was in 2007, because of a conversation with my uncle who lived in Delaware, who was a REALTOR®, urged me to get into it. My dad was my big supporter in this adventure and was actually my first client, which I am grateful for.”
Getting into real estate just before the market crashed in 2008 was definitely a difficult start for Jon in the business. As a former chess player, this hardship actually helped him learn to think one step ahead of the market, therefore leading him out of the “the great recession” and into a successful career as an agent in the Charleston market.
“I come at deals as I used to play chess. I like to know the ins and outs or have a plan for each in and out, as every deal is usually different from the last. So I am very forward-thinking on that end.” It’s that forward thinking that has led him to his outstanding career numbers, even selling over $12 million last year during a difficult time for the whole world, the pandemic. Knowing that things can change on a dime has really solidified Jon’s position as a Top Producer.
Not only is his forward thinking a reason for his success, he also believes that “hard work, persistence, and God” have led him to where he is today. “I am a hard worker; I am usually one of the first people in my office and one of the last to leave – for good or bad, I don’t know. I am very persistent, which you need to be when you're working with several people or competing against the other 6,599 agents in our area! And, lastly, God, I believe, has steered me many times in my life from one road to another and has allowed me to be successful on his timing as if I was younger with this success it may not have lasted or I may have been too immature to handle it.”
Doing all this alone wouldn’t be possible for Jon. His right hands in everything he does are Lisa Manderville and Heather Harbin, who, without them, he wouldn’t have the amazing client care he is known for.
“I have Heather, who is my front end of all things, which I would say is more than just an assistant. I have Lisa, who is my closing coordinator and helps take things over from there, though I am still heavily involved, and I have a Client Care coordinator who assists me with people who are considering buying or selling and keeps them informed until they are ready to meet with me.” While he may look for more help in the future, to ensure clients are getting the best customer care and experience possible, as of now they work as a well-oiled machine.
With Heather and Lisa at the office, and his wife, Candace, at home taking care of their two children, Harper and Sullivan, there is literally nothing Jon cannot do. His support team is top-notch, and his love of real estate shows in every transaction he does. He wants fellow REALTORS® to know that he “looks forward to being on one or the other side of a transaction with you. We are in this together and respectively need to protect our clients, though this does not need to be made into an us-versus-them when handling a deal; the goal is to get our clients the home or the seller to sell, and to leave the ego at the door.”
