SYDNEY MORALES

“My mom has been a REALTOR® for 15 years,” says Sydney Morales. Her father entered real estate five years ago. Sydney has childhood memories of tagging along with her mother for showings. Now she has joined them on Team Morales, making a mark in real estate in the greater Cincinnati Area for Coldwell Banker Realty.

“I was born and raised in West Chester,” shares Sydney. “I went to Ohio University and then moved to Denver for one and a half years.” Although she really enjoyed Denver, when her parents offered an opportunity to join their business, she answered the call and came back to Cincinnati.

“My family brought me back,” smiles Sydney. “They thought I would be useful to their business.” In August 2019, Sydney started in real estate, starting as an assistant and working in operations before getting her license in summer 2020.

One of her roles was putting systems in processes in place to track and measure things. Sydney says, “It was nice to get experience on that side.” Being brought up in the real estate world was an education in and of itself. She comments, “I always listened and was involved.” As soon as she could drive, she put signs in yards. Little did she know that she would follow in her parents’ footsteps.

“I was in the fifth grade when my mom started real estate,” says Sydney. “I’ve been around real estate for most of my adolescent life.” Being schooled in real estate at an early age has helped Sydney learn quickly what other people take years to learn. Now Sydney helps her parents in real estate.

“I got to officially be a part of the team,” points out Sydney. “I got to run operations.” Working with her parents, learning from them, and now helping buyers and sellers is priceless.

Life Before Real Estate
Prior to real estate, Sydney worked at the dining hall at Ohio University. This experience prepared her for who she is today.

“It taught me really good work experience,” she says. “It taught me the importance of standard operating procedures and helping to implement them. I learned how to lead people and how to get them to buy into things. I figured out how to run a team, make a training manual, and use standard procedures. I have bosses I still talk to today, and I regard my work as one of my biggest learning experiences.”

Sydney’s job in Denver was also instrumental in building the skills she needed for real estate. She comments, “When I moved out for Denver, I worked for another small family business at a tax place.” She excelled in interacting with clients and helping them with their needs. Ironically, Sydney went from working with a family-owned business to working for her own family’s business in real estate.

“I learned a lot about listening and talking to clients,” says Sydney. She talked to people from all walks of life, from rich to middle class, and how to relate to others. “It was a really good experience.”

Connecting with Clients
One of the things that Sydney loves about real estate is connecting with her clients, especially first-time homebuyers.

“I love helping people and connecting with them. Some people make a home purchase a few times in their lives. I make sure that the process is smooth from them,” she says. Seeing people shed tears of joy when they get the keys to the house makes all of her work worth it.

Maintaining Balance
If there is anything challenging about real estate, it is the ability to find balance. Sydney helps other REALTORS® on her team to enjoy their lives while still having a thriving career.

Sydney explains, “I know what it is like to have a work-life balance. It’s all about having good systems in place.” When one member of the team goes on vacation, the other members cover for them.

“We have your back,” Sydney tells others on her team. “You don’t have to answer the phone on vacation.”

With Team Morales, clients have the benefit of working with numerous REALTORS® on the team, making sure they are accessible for their clients’ real estate needs. Sydney, who always gets her phone, helps her clients at the drop of a hat. “If there is some reason I can’t do a showing, I can call my dad, Richard, or someone on my team.” Her clients are always taken care of from start to finish.

Grounded by Family
The middle child, Sydney has one older brother and a younger brother.

“We’re a close-knit family,” she says. “I talk to my parents multiple times a day, every single day. It’s really special.”

A new homeowner, Sydney purchased a home with her fiancée, Bailee, this year. Going through this experience has helped her with her clients understand the challenges that they face.

In her free time, Sydney enjoys kayaking in the summer with her dog, snowboarding in the winter, and simply enjoying everything Cincinnati has to offer. She comments, “What makes Cincinnati so great are all the people in it. I love Cincinnati, and I’m happy to be back.”

From Denver, Colorado, to Cincinnati, Ohio, Sydney feels fortunate that she has everything she needs here – a thriving career, a close-knit family, and trusted clients. It’s the life that she imagined and so much more.
