Bryan Mulvany
Howard Hanna Real Estate Services
Creating a proper work/life balance is something most REALTORS® strive for but struggle to achieve. Few can say that they built their business model around it, but that’s exactly what Bryan Mulvany has done. He calls it “proper priority placement,” whereby you work around your life instead of building a life that revolves around your work.
Born and raised in Grove City, Bryan and his wife Courtney have four children between the ages of 7 and 1. Both former college athletes at Ohio Northern University, they understand what it takes to juggle priorities and strive for success. Courtney works as a Physician Assistant and Bryan obtained his real estate license in 2016, following in the footsteps of his grandfather who was a REALTOR® and past president of the Grove City Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to becoming a real estate agent, Bryan thought he was headed for a career in law enforcement. Selected by the Grove City Police Department, he was all ready to sign the paperwork and be sworn in when a strange twist of fate changed his life. During a final review of his application, it was determined that he was ineligible for service due to having downloaded music from Limewire during his college years. He was immediately disqualified and worked a series of odd jobs to provide for his family until real estate presented itself as an opportunity.
“Some of your greatest disappointments in life are some of God’s greatest appointments for your life,” he maintains. “You couldn’t have told me at the time, but that day was one of the best days of my life.”
The son of two hard-working parents and the oldest of four children, he credits his upbringing for much of his work ethic and focus today. His parents provided for their needs while Bryan and his siblings worked to provide for their wants. It’s this kind of work ethic he hopes to instill in his children and the same qualities he looks for in his team members. His team currently consists of nine agents who all share the same philosophy and encourage each other to succeed in all aspects of life.
Upon graduating with a degree in Communication and Marketing, he thought he wanted to coach and become a school guidance counselor. While obtaining his master’s from the University of Dayton, he simultaneously earned his real estate license and then went to work for HER, now Howard Hannah. For the first four years, Bryan was part of a team that helped him learn the business while also coaching soccer and starting a family. From there he went on to build his own team around his business model of family first.
“Few people have a better quality of work-life balance than I do. But it didn’t happen by accident. My team and I intentionally set out to create an environment where agents could be successful in their professional life without having to jeopardize family priorities.”
To do this, he says he is not driven by sales numbers or rankings on a list. His simple philosophy is to work with people you have relationships with and treat them fairly. “If you treat people the right way, are competent in the field, and tell people the truth, the business will come.
“Hard work is important, but it has to be prioritized. It’s not about avoiding work. It’s about putting priorities in their proper place. There are plenty of late nights and early mornings, but that means we don’t miss class field trips and soccer games. And that’s just the way we like it!”
