Hanson Audio Video
A Father-Son Dynasty
Try it before you buy it. That simple philosophy has been driving success to Hanson Audio Video for more than 20 years. Greg Hanson and his son, Troy, opened their first store in Kettering in 1999 and recently added a second location in Cincinnati.
The father-son team has created state-of-the-art showrooms that are educational and fun. “Our objective was to create a unique experience center. The design criteria had to include ways to inform our various stakeholders (REALTORS®, customers, builders, designers, architects, etc.) about brand quality, as well as what makes our key manufacturers and partners the best in the world,” explains Troy.
“People walk in and experience the latest in-home entertainment, hear exceptional audio, watch 8K television, control the temperature, lighting, blinds and security cameras through smart home automation, or see the latest options in home theater. We don’t sell things to people. We help people buy things,” says Greg.
“We are a big asset to REALTORS®,” according to Troy. He enjoys sharing the story about a home on the market for nearly a year. “The agent took it off the market, had us put in a basic home theater with a projector and screen, and it sold in a few days. Taking the time to enhance the home experience can pay off,” he says, smiling.
Potential buyers also turn to Hanson Audio Video to consult them on possible enhancements to their prospective new home. Key areas are home networks and Wi-Fi, whole-house music and TV entertainment options to start. There are also great living space improvements for lighting, blinds, security cameras and outdoor entertainment that would appeal to a new homeowner’s lifestyle.
Speaking of lifestyle, in our society of instant gratification and having our world at our fingertips, it’s easy to understand the growing demand for high-tech options. “Clients love the freedom of controlling their house with a swipe of their phone, tablet, wall switch, in-wall display or simply through voice commands. It’s all about convenience. The options are endless with over 12,000 third-party consumer devices that can be controlled remotely through home automation – all on a single application.” Also, according to Greg, “We pride ourselves in having the experience to meet customers’ needs with the products to meet most budgets. We try to hit all price points – good, better, best, and ultimate.”
While Hanson Audio Video has a wide variety of products, its service is something that keeps clients coming back. Twenty-eight employees and 17 work trucks allow them to provide the initial installation and ongoing service levels to support their rapidly growing customer base. They even have a service department with 24-hour service available 365 days a year for those who elect this option.
Greg adds, “Our installed devices can be equipped so we can remotely diagnose most issues that can occur with today’s electronics. We can solve 70-80% of the problems without ever having to go to the house.” Hanson Audio Video is one of the few in the nation with this cutting-edge service.
