Turning Dreams into Reality

Janell Arant’s journey into real estate began with a childhood fascination—dreams of floor plans, model homes, and pink empowerment.

“For my 11th birthday, my mom asked what special thing I wanted to do with her, and I chose looking at model homes,” Janell recalls. “I constantly built homes with blocks and dollhouse furniture, and even taught myself CADD at 13 to create a model home collection I named ‘Cambrian Homes,’ complete with floorplans and elevation plans!”

Janell credits much of her inspiration to her mother, whom she describes as her greatest role model. “She taught me what hard work looks like,” Janell shares. “I loved picking out her outfits for work and was so proud of her.” As a child, Janell dreamed of carving out her own successful career—one she envisioned in a pink power suit with shoulder pads, exuding confidence and independence.

While her journey to real estate wasn’t straightforward, each step prepared her for the career she’d been dreaming of. After earning degrees in psychology and communications from Metropolitan State University of Denver, she worked in marketing at HBO during the golden era of Sex and the City and The Sopranos. Later, as a mom, she shifted to teaching roles so she could be home at the same time as her kids.

Eventually, she found her way to real estate, first as a residential appraiser in Douglas County. There, she honed her skills in valuation and property tax analysis, gaining a deeper understanding of the industry’s inner workings. “It was an incredible education,” she says. “I learned everything from property taxes and valuations to appraisals and sketching floorplans—my favorite part of the job.”

In December 2021, after years of dreaming, Janell took the leap into real estate. While she initially planned to start in 2019, the global pandemic and a divorce delayed her plans. She waited until she could fully embrace the challenge.

“I dreamed about becoming a REALTOR® for 15 years,” she reflects. “When I finally made the leap, it felt like I was stepping into who I was always meant to be.”

Janell’s first two years in real estate have been marked by rapid growth and recognition. She soared to the top of her brokerage, earning a spot on West and Main’s Top 10 REALTOR® list—a surreal moment for someone who once looked up to those peers in awe. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to live out what was once just a dream, and knowing that my kids have watched their mom go through a difficult divorce, take a huge risk, work really hard, and strive to stand among the best!” Janell shares.

At the heart of Janell’s career is her mission to empower others. Her vision includes building an all-women real estate team that prioritizes collaboration, family, and generational wealth. “I want to create a space where women feel supported, no matter where they are in life,” she explains. “It’s about showing them what’s possible and helping them achieve more than they thought they could.”

Janell is already mentoring new agents, encouraging them to lean into opportunities like open houses and to document their journeys on social media. “Be genuine, provide value, and let people see who you are,” she advises. “That trust turns connections into clients.”

Even with her success, Janell knows the importance of balance. “I’ve learned I can’t do it all,” she admits. “Hiring help, setting boundaries, and prioritizing what truly matters have been essential to thriving in this industry.”

Outside of work, Janell’s life is full of family and adventure. She’s a proud mom to Lauren, a college junior, and Aaron, a high school senior deciding between law enforcement and trade school. Together, they’re planning a spring trip to Mexico for relaxation and new memories. Their rescue dog, Zack, has also become a joyful presence in their lives.

Janell recently took up paddleboarding, savoring the vacation-like feel it brings to her busy days. She’s also looking forward to traveling abroad with her new passport. Whether reading on her porch or dancing to her eclectic Spotify playlist, Janell’s hobbies reflect her adventurous and lighthearted spirit.

For Janell, success isn’t about accolades or financial milestones—it’s about living authentically and inspiring others to do the same. “Mindset, motivation, and momentum will get you far in this business,” she says. “If you believe you can and put action behind that belief, the possibilities are endless.”

From her childhood dreams of a pink power suit to becoming a leader who champions others, Janell Arant is proof that stepping into who you were meant to be can inspire those around you to do the same.
