Nick Painz

A True Educator

Nick Painz has built his career on one core principle: the power of education. In his eyes, success in real estate goes beyond buying and selling properties; it’s about teaching clients, mentoring agents, and sharing insights on how to use real estate as a path to financial freedom.

“I want to give people the knowledge to make life-changing decisions,” Nick emphasizes.

Nick’s dedication to educating others has become the foundation of his career, whether he’s guiding clients through investments or speaking to aspiring agents. Nick’s drive to share what he knows shapes every aspect of his business, making him not only a top producer but also a trusted mentor and speaker.

Nick’s journey to real estate was anything but planned. Raised in Westminster, Colorado, he attended Standley Lake High School before heading to CU Boulder, where he earned a degree in Linguistics and Spanish. He initially envisioned a future in simultaneous interpretation, even spending a year and a half in Sevilla, Spain, and later applying to the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Despite being fluent in Spanish, however, Nick didn’t get in.

“When I didn’t pass the entrance exam - due to deficiencies in my “A” language (English!) - I was stunned,” Nick recalls. “So, I took the job that happened to be in front of me at the time - Umpiring.”

Nick spent years as a professional baseball umpire in the minor leagues, enjoying the challenge and structure of the sport. But a knee injury in 2010 ended his umpiring career, setting him on a new path. With baseball behind him, Nick found a new home in the fitness industry.

Starting as a personal trainer at Fitness 19, Nick quickly moved up the ranks, becoming an assistant general manager in 2010 and a general manager by 2012. By 2014, he was overseeing multiple gyms as a regional manager, and by 2017, he was a national sales trainer. However, the fitness industry was beginning to change, and with growth slowing, Nick recognized the need for a backup plan. Having already dabbled in real estate as an investor, he saw potential in expanding that interest into a full-time career.

“I knew a lot about real estate as I had a handful of rental properties already,” Nick explains. “It felt like a natural move as I had already begun my education to get my license to do my own deals as a real estate investor. I love the numbers behind real estate and wanted to teach others about investing as well.”

In 2018, Nick officially entered the real estate industry as an agent with RE/MAX Alliance. Driven by a desire to teach, he built his team, META Homes, with a mission centered on client education. “Real estate isn’t just about transactions for me—it’s about empowering people,” he says. “I love helping clients understand how real estate can build generational wealth.”

Nick’s hands-on approach to education has earned him a reputation as someone who genuinely cares about his clients’ long-term goals. His dedication has paid off in accolades, including awards like the RE/MAX Torchbearer and RE/MAX Diamond Club, and a spot in the RE/MAX Lifetime Achievement circle.

Nick’s commitment to education extends beyond clients; he’s passionate about mentoring fellow agents. A certified coach with Workman Success Systems, Nick spends time guiding other agents, showing them how to create lasting success in real estate. “I tell agents: treat this career like a true job. Have a strategy, execute it daily, and always be learning,” he shares. His expertise has also led to speaking engagements, a role he’s eager to expand in the future as he builds a career in public speaking.

Despite his packed schedule, Nick has worked hard to balance his career with family life—his wife, Jess, who runs the operations side (payroll, marketing, operations, database management, hiring, etc.) of META Homes, and their two children, Ben and Hannah. Together, they enjoy family trips to their Breckenridge home, where they ski in the winter and ATV in the summer. Nick also loves racing motorcycles at High Plains Raceway and coaching his son’s baseball and wrestling teams.

Looking to the future, Nick envisions a larger stage for his educational mission. Fluent in Spanish and a seasoned investor, he plans to use his platform to reach more people through speaking engagements and mentorship. “I want to empower people to achieve whatever level of success they desire,” he says.
