Colby Raymond is a social butterfly, committed to helping others obtain that special place to call home. “I love putting people in homes and shelter,” she expresses about the excitement she has for her work. Born and raised in Hampton Roads, she is passionate about supporting the community of Coastal Virginia.

Colby recently joined forces with TownBank Mortgage toward the end of last year, and although she is learning a new role, she’s thrilled to be a part of the company. As Producing Sales Manager, she works alongside her clients to assist them with mortgage loans, whether for the purchase of a first home, a construction loan or a forever home. “At the end of the day,” says Colby, “everybody deserves to have their ‘safe place.’” 

As someone who is relationship-driven, Colby appreciates how dedicated TownBank Mortgage is to helping the community. They share the belief in giving back in time, money and talent. Colby has participated in quite a few causes, such as supporting battered women, children, the homeless and animals. She excels in the culture of the company, which is to complement one another rather than complicate. 

Because her father was a local real estate appraiser who owned his own company, Colby was introduced to the mortgage industry from a young age. “I’m going to be a loan officer when I grow up,” she recalls saying as a child while playing with calculators in the loan office. 

Colby is a Radford University graduate with a degree in music and business. After working as a personal shopper for Nordstrom for 13 years, she took the leap and started her new career in mortgage lending in 2012. She joined her dad’s former partners’ company and worked with them for over a decade, where she was Top Originator for several years in a row.

“Get out there and get going,” Colby advises real estate professionals. “You can always try something new. Don’t be afraid to connect.” She is undeniably a people person and a “connector” in her area.

Growing up in Chesapeake and currently living in Virginia Beach, Colby and her family are true locals. Her devotion to Coastal Virginia runs deep, and she truly appreciates the diversity of Hampton Roads. Every day, she works in her office, which has a breathtaking view of the Elizabeth River in Downtown Norfolk. 

“Success is plotting every day to achieve your dreams,” Colby states. She has a flourishing social life and enjoys all the activities Hampton Roads has to offer like art, dining and entertainment. She loves to relax with a nice glass of wine; a couple of her favorites are Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards and King Family Vineyards. She and her boyfriend go to concerts and play tennis and golf together, and she enjoys spending time with her Goldendoodle, Lexi.

Colby's hard work and dedication to serving others have resulted in receiving numerous awards, such as Scotsman Guide Top Originator in 2021, Home Builders Association of Virginia Mortgage Professional of the Year, NextGen Award from CoVa Business Magazine and Top 40 Under 40 from Inside Business — all in 2022.
