The Selling Sisters Team
Carrie Harris got her start in real estate in July 2017. Next month will mark her fifth year in the industry, and it’s been an interesting time! She began working with Keller Williams and values the time and training they offered. After a year, she was excited to be invited to join Homesfinder Realty Group, where she was a good fit. This past March, she and her sister, Rylee Dallons, started the Selling Sisters Team.
Carrie’s a busy woman! She is mother to three boys and wife to Andrew, an active-duty Marine who is currently serving as the Operations Chief for Recruiting on Parris Island. Their boys are Brayden (13) the super athlete, Jamison (10) the comedian and kind heart, and Callen (2 and a half) the wild child. The family loves to be outdoors and volunteers with a veterans’ organization. Andrew is on the Board of Directors for Operation Patriots FOB (OPFOB) and the family enjoys going to the firing range, hunting, and fishing. When asked how she manages work/life balance Carrie jokes, “Lots of coffee!” but says further, “I try to delegate my evenings and weekends for family time although sometimes, as we all know, that is not always possible.”
Speaking of family, Carrie has quite the story woven into the narrative of her real estate career. Adopted at birth, she became adept at answering questions about her heritage but was always curious herself. She had no information about her biological father, so Andrew gave her a DNA test kit for her birthday, and she was excited about the prospect of answers to the questions she’d asked for so long. The results came back and led her to seek out a second cousin, who was able to provide information. After spending time gathering the courage, she sent a letter to the person she thought could possibly be her father. It turned out he was and was in complete shock as he was just learning of her existence. They clicked right away, and she immediately got messages from her half-sister and half-brother.
Carrie quickly bonded with her new sister, Rylee Dallons. She says, “Rylee has been such a huge part of making this reunion feel so rewarding. A big surprise to both of us was how much we have in common!” Both sisters were in real estate, and Rylee was working for a top builder in Boise, Idaho, recently being awarded Rookie of the Year. The sisters have other small things in common, like their interests, taste in clothing, and funny things like owning the same couch! After a few visits, they decided they’d lost too much time together, and Rylee moved to Bluffton. The Selling Sisters Team was born!
When asked why she got into real estate, Carrie says she always had jobs that involve customer service. “I am a people person, so I can’t imagine working a job where you do not get that face-to-face connection. I also love being creative, and you get to do that more than you would think in this business.” She feels the most rewarding part of the business is working with military families. “I know firsthand the challenges that they face with relocating every few years.
Sometimes you are excited for the move, sometimes it’s heartbreaking as you leave the life, home, and friends that you have built.” She prides herself on making that transition as smooth and stress-free as possible for her clients. Carrie especially loves reintroducing South Carolina to families whose only previous experience might have been boot camp. “I love showing them and their families the beautiful side of South Caroline and all it has to offer.”
Carrie has a few words of advice for new agents. “Don’t doubt yourself. If you work hard enough and put yourself out there, success will come. Be kind to each other; we are all in this together. There is no better feeling than being able to high-five at the finish line!”
