“Your past does not define your future.” – Alexis Bilbrey

Alexis Bilbrey is a remarkable woman who has overcome various challenges in her life to emerge as a successful REALTOR® and entrepreneur.

Born in Odessa, Alexis lived in Lubbock for 10 years in a childhood marked by difficulties. Her parents' multiple divorces had a significant impact on her upbringing. However, these challenges molded Alexis into the strong and resilient person she is today. She learned the importance of making choices and sticking with them, which played a crucial role in her marriage to her husband Eric and her commitment to her son Kayden.

“When I was 16, I had my son Kayden,” she smiles. “I got married at the age of 19 and this year marks 10 years of marriage to my husband. That’s a big accomplishment for us. I look forward to many more years with Eric.” 

As a young adult, Alexis envisioned a career in child development. This dedicated mother took numerous childhood development courses, considering a future in teaching or daycare. However, an incident at a daycare where she witnessed neglectful parenting gave her a change in heart. This experience taught her patience and to find a new path for her career.

Despite facing setbacks, Alexis never lost sight of her goals. “In June 2020, I was laid off from my job,” she comments. “I felt really defeated. My husband had a 30 percent pay cut at his job.” Although Alexis felt opposition was hitting them in all directions, she continued to press on. 

“I tried to find a job and I was either underqualified or overqualified,” she comments. “My husband and I talked and he said, ‘Why don’t you get into real estate?’” 

Taking Eric’s advice to heart, Alexis called her REALTOR®. She then started real estate classes and got her license in February of 2021. She then interviewed with various brokerages and found her place at Home Charm Realty with Melody Villasana, where she felt comfortable and supported. She assisted Melody as well as Demi at Home Charm Realty, which was an invaluable learning experience. 

“That taught me the most,” she says. “I didn’t make my first sale for 6 months, but I learned a lot. I assisted on anything I could so I could learn.”

Alexis’ determination paid off as she went on to sell two million dollars' worth of properties in her first year. Now, she aims to double her sales every year and has set her sights on achieving eight million dollars in sales.

When Alexis isn’t selling homes, she is making properties pop with her and her husband’s business, Bilbrey by Design Home Staging. This venture began when they seized the opportunity to purchase an entire staging company that was shutting down. Although it has become more of a side hustle this year, Alexis finds joy in helping sellers bring life to their homes through staging.

Alexis loves spending time with her husband and their two children, Kayden (12) and Blaine (9) to relax and recharge from real estate. A math whiz, Kayden excels in sports. He does football, basketball, and baseball and Alexis always pushes him to do his best. “Seeing him be successful and watching him work through his fears is success for me,” she comments. He excels in athletics and academics. Blaine is still forging her own path in life. Blaine is really into baseball and Boy Scouts. 

As a family, everyone enjoys spending time together, especially through travel. “We want to experience more than Odessa, Texas,” jokes Alexis. They enjoy venturing on trips together, making memories to cherish. 

Additionally, Alexis and her family are actively involved in their community. They volunteer at Community Bible Church, where they teach little ones in an elementary class once a month.
