Melody Villasana | Home Charm Realty
Making Her Mark
Melody Villasana, a proud native of Odessa, was born and raised in a hardworking family. After graduating from Odessa High School in 1996, she earned her degree from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 2002.
A trailblazer, Melody was the first in her family to graduate college. She has a heart of gratitude for her parents who modeled hard work and made her who she is today. She says, “I remember my mom going through cosmetology school and working two jobs. After the oil bust, my dad studied every night to get his GED.” He then tirelessly studied to become a U.S. Postal Officer and scored the second highest on the exam. “They showed me you have to work hard to get what you want. And never give up, even when you fail. It’s from my parents that I learned my work ethic and grit.”
Road to Real Estate
“I always thought I would follow my mom’s footsteps in becoming a hairdresser,” says Melody. When she started working in a medical office, she wanted to do something with the medical field. “I wanted to be a pharmaceutical sales representative, pharmacist, or a physician assistant,” she explains. After graduating with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry, she pursued a career in medical sales.
In 2004, while living in Dallas and working as a medical sales representative, Melody's perspective on her career changed. Inspired by a close friend who was a real estate agent, Melody saw the independence and freedom that the profession offered and felt compelled to pursue it herself.
"I've always wanted to help others, and I've always been in sales," explains Melody. Real estate was the perfect fit for her, blending her passion for sales with the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives.
Overcoming Challenges and Finding Balance
Like any career, Melody's real estate journey came with its fair share of challenges. One significant hurdle was striking a balance between her work and family life. Facing the pressure to be available at all times, sometimes she sacrificed and missed out on important family events. As Melody says, “Starting off as a new agent, you really have to hustle and take every call.”
With time, Melody has learned to balance work and life. Prioritizing her family and her thriving career is easier than when she started real estate. One of her secrets to success is following a schedule daily, which has helped her to stay on track.
Making a Difference Through Compassionate Service
For Melody, real estate is about more than just closing deals. It's about connecting with people, understanding their needs, and guiding them through significant life transitions. She finds immense joy in helping individuals achieve their dreams of homeownership, especially to those who might not have thought that homeownership was ever possible.
"I love what I do because it allows me to assist someone who may not have believed they could buy a home," shares Melody. She often helps people who are working through challenging times, including the death of family members.
"It's not always about hitting sales numbers; it's about showing compassion,” says Melody. Making a positive impact on people's lives, especially during challenging times, is what it’s all about for Melody.
Building a Thriving Brokerage and Community Impact
In June 2020, Melody embarked on a new venture by opening her own brokerage, Home Charm Realty, alongside her sister Melinda Velasquez and Broker Associate and Co Owner Demi Franco and REALTOR® Laura Maroti. With a growing team of 32 agents, Melody's goal is to continue expanding the brokerage and potentially open a second location in the future.
As a Broker, Melody feels a deep responsibility for her agents' success and is committed to providing them with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive. She also envisions becoming more involved in the community and making a lasting impact through various initiatives.
Defining Success: Gratitude and Hard Work
Success, for Melody, is about going to bed each night with a sense of gratitude and accomplishment. She considers herself blessed to have a supportive husband who understands the demands of her career and children who take pride in her achievements.
"I show up every day, treating my work like a regular 8-to-5 job," says Melody. "I go to the office every single day, even if it’s just a few hours.” She believes in the power of consistency, stepping out of her comfort zone, and putting herself out there on social media has helped her to connect with clients and build her brand. Calling leads isn’t always easy. “You have to be in a good mindset and grow thick skin for sure,” she says.
Fortunate for Family
Melody is grateful for her family, her husband Victor of 18 years, and their children Chloe (17) and Victor III (15). She comments, “I have a very supportive husband and he understands the sacrifice my career demands.” Knowing that her kids are proud of her accomplishments is priceless.
To relax, Melody enjoys hoping, reading, and traveling. “I’ve been to New York, NY; Orlando, FL; Tulum, Mexico; and Cozumel. We will be traveling to Cancun next month,” she says.

Melody is an inspiration. Her remarkable journey as a real estate professional exemplifies her dedication to serving others and her unwavering work ethic. Through her compassionate approach and drive for success, she continues to inspire both her clients and fellow agents alike.
