After finishing up high school, Melissa attended the University of Pittsburgh where she studied Spanish and Psychology while working several jobs, including selling Kirby vacuum cleaners door to door. The goal after graduation was working with homeless children living in the streets of Latin American countries. “But life had different plans and after ending a four year relationship, I decided to buy a house at 21 years old,” Melissa explains. “Excited by the ease of the process and a late-night infomercial with Carleton Sheets convincing me that I can buy more houses with “No Money Down,” I was ready to start investing in real estate.”

Shortly thereafter, Melissa earned her real estate license and initially worked with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services for 13 years. From the beginning, her journey in real estate was far from the norm. In fact, she sold three houses during her first week in the business, earned Rookie of the Year honors, and her business kept building from there.

Now, as the Associate Broker of the Melissa Merriman Team at Keller Williams, Melissa is certainly invested in the long-term growth and success of her team members and clients. “I love the challenge of what I do each day - negotiating deals and constantly improving to be at my best for the team and my clients,” she says.

The passion and commitment she has to her clients, that is also shared by her team members, is insurmountable. Cahla Downs, Melanie Firestone, and Michelle Coffman, along with new members Sara Sweeney and Marissa Wall, round out the Melissa Merriman Team, a group that is continuing to make each other better with each passing day. “I have a fantastic team,” Melissa says with a smile. Through her time coaching each team member, Melissa admits she continues to grow every day. She explains that each member is a piece of a puzzle and they all bring a wide variety of expertise and attributes to the team. 

It’s the combined goal-oriented vision and level of care that each person has for their clients that brings it all together. Cahla admits, “I invest wholly into my relationships with people.” She continues on to explain how working with clients brings her joy and how being on the team is exactly what she needed. Having each team member there to motivate you each and every day has been a big game changer for her. “We have accountability calls every day,” she says. “It means a lot to have the team there to support you. We have goals that we work toward that we set for ourselves.”

For Melanie it’s a drive to help her clients meet major milestones in their lives. “As a buyer's agent, I love helping people find their future home,” she admits. Helping them throughout their search and providing them a shoulder of comfort to ease the process, is a specialty of hers. Melanie agrees, while getting their team together was like putting together a puzzle, so is the same when it comes to the process of finding a home for her clients. She is able to make such strong connections with her clients that they often become friends online, and that allows her to follow up with them throughout their journey, long after the sale is made.

Melissa along with her husband, Kyle, flip houses, manage several investment properties, and stay busy with their two children, Madden and Jameson, who are involved with travel hockey and theater. When she gets the time, she has a passion for golfing and traveling.

As Melissa looks into the future, she plans on expanding her team with the addition of other agents. With patience, dependability, and persistence, she puts her strong goal-setting spark and resilience to work to find her clients the homes where their families will grow and thrive through time. Truly, Melissa and her team are invested for the long-term. And their impact happens now … day by day.
