Meet Chimcare, Sweeping the Pacific Northwest One Chimney at a Time
For our March Partner Spotlight, we profile Chimcare, the most trusted chimney, sweep, masonry, and fireplace company in the United States. We spoke with the CEO of the multi-state company — which services a broad area spanning from Vancouver, Washington to Corvallis, Oregon, and Mount Hood to the Oregon Coast — Jesse Peralta, to learn about his business.
To kick things off, we asked Peralta how he got into the chimney business, to which he replied, “I learned the trade at just 14 years of age working with my father,” commented Peralta. “I continued to work with him throughout high school and college, but upon graduation, I pursued other career paths. That is until my dad wanted to sell the business in 2005, and I decided to take the reins.”
“We are a one-stop shop for all of your fireplace needs,” explained Peralta. “We sell and install gas and wood burning inserts, clean chimneys, service and repair gas inserts, tear down and rebuild chimneys, and repair existing chimneys by replacing chimney flashing, tuck-pointing, rebuilding crowns, and installing chimney caps.”
Have you been ignoring the need for fireplace maintenance? Soot yourself, but there are several compelling reasons to invest in an annual service with Chimcare. With over 20,000 chimney fires per year in the nation, having your chimney swept and inspected annually is very important. Regular inspection will not only ensure the safety of the home but also reduce the need for expensive repairs if left neglected.
Moreover, many homeowners are unaware that gas fireplaces also need to be cleaned and inspected yearly. “Though gas fireplaces burn clean, they do produce a carbon buildup that needs to be removed,” described Peralta. “They also need to be serviced and cleaned for optimal performance and to ensure the longevity of the fireplace.”
Peralta continued, “Without proper care, dangerous carbon monoxide poising can occur. The slightest puncture in the gas line or minor damage to the gas valve or a faulty part can leak gas into the home, which can lead to permanent health damage or death. Finally, an undetected gas leak can lead to an explosion, making checking the inner components, gas valve, and gas lines extremely important.”
Another great reason to invest in fireplace maintenance is to preserve the value of a home. When a home is being sold, there is a mandatory level 2 chimney inspection per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) that most people are not aware of.
In conclusion, Peralta shared that he and his team also performs quite a few fireplace makeovers. He also mentioned that the spring and summer months are the best time to think about fireplace maintenance, well before the busy season in the cold fall and winter months.
