Andrew Greer | Finest City Team
The Builder
“I'm a builder, and not just in real estate. I build houses, teams, and apartments. I enjoy the process of bringing from nothing to something. That's been a big part of my story.”
When Andrew Greer began his real estate career, his connection with his clients came naturally. He launched his real estate business at the tail end of the financial crisis, and many clients were still dealing with foreclosures, short sales, and distressed properties. Andrew had the experience and the empathy to support them.
“Growing up in the Inland Empire, my family’s house was foreclosed on,” Andrew reflects. “It was a very interesting time for me. We were being foreclosed on the week before the actual auction, and I was homecoming king. It was an interesting dichotomy between my social life and my home life. I still remember that feeling.”
While losing his family home was challenging, it ultimately provided Andrew with a springboard to launch his own career. He knew he could help those in similar situations.
“When I got into the business, I was doing flips and going after foreclosures and people with short sales. I had a unique approach because I had been there before. That drove my entry into the business.”
Becoming a Leader
Andrew began investing in 2011 and became a licensed REALTOR two years later. He’s now been thriving in the San Diego market for over a decade. His strength as an investor has been instrumental to his success as an agent. He’s a problem-solver and a value maximizer.
“I look at transactions from a different lens,” he says. “I have represented myself as an investor so many times. Therefore, my approach is different.”
Andrew also prides himself on being a leader in the industry. He’s well-known for running events, teaching, and supporting local organizations.
“I’m known in the industry because I enjoy events and teaching. We do an annual holiday fundraising event to raise money for Toys for Tots. I have run the networking event BrewRE for nine years. I run Real Estate Cheat Codes, an educational event, twice monthly. Once a month, I run a mastermind called Real Estate Pro, an open forum for REALTORS® and investors to talk about strategies in their business amongst each other.”
Andrew was also named San Diego Real Producers Investor of the Year in 2022.
Building Something Fresh
Andrew’s most recent project has been the growth of his real estate group, Finest City Team with Real Brokerage.
“When I saw the market shifting at the end of 2021, I decided by the end of the first quarter of 2022, I was going to start a team. I'm a contrarian, and it was my thought that if the market is going to contract, the ability to bring in the best and brightest agents will actually be higher. That allows the ability to take the skills of an investor and developer and transfer them to a team of agents who can do that many times over.”
Since its founding, Finest City Team has grown to nearly 30 agents. The team’s culture is driven by a hunger to create wealth through real estate investing, and Andrew’s investment work feeds the team with opportunities. Most of the agents are experienced, and all of them share a motivation to grow.
Andrew’s goal is to become a top three San Diego team in the next few years.
“It’s gone really well,” he says proudly. “If I teach people the same concepts and give them tools to grow, they have the ability to expand their business, and we can have mutually beneficial growth.”
The Builder
Andrew sees himself as a builder, and that persona has taken on various forms through the years. Early in life, he helped people build financial wealth as a financial advisor. He’s built homes as an investor, a real estate business as an agent, and now a real estate team. Today, he’s most focused on supporting the success of his agents.
“I’ll always be a builder. Today, what I truly enjoy is building out other people's success.”
