Brian Daly | WeRevive, Founder and CEO
Reviving the world, one home at a time.
“We mean it when we say – we’re on a mission to revive the world one home at a time,” Brian Daly said. “And that’s what we’re doing. We’re taking older houses that no longer serve our community and we’re transforming them into beautiful homes for families. We’re reviving neighborhoods, we’re reviving people’s lives by giving them a place to call home. But we’re not just doing it for us, we’re also partnered with the San Diego Rescue Mission to work toward housing for all.”
Brian Daly is the founder and CEO of WeRevive, formerly The San Diego Home Buyer. “We’ve recently rebranded the company,” he explained. “We did a lot of things we’re proud of under our previous brand, but we’re doing more. We outgrew that name a long time ago. We’re not just flipping houses. We’re revitalizing. We’re reviving.”
As the son of a police officer and an accountant, in Northern California, Brian grew up in a house that not only taught him to work hard and give respect, but to do so with accountability and precision as well. When he was 17, his parents gifted him the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad for Christmas.
“After we ate our Christmas dinner, I went upstairs and cracked open the book. I couldn’t put it down, I read it in one sitting. I was hooked and knew from that moment that I wanted to get into real estate… that I wanted to learn whatever I needed to be able to flip houses,” he said.
After high school, Brian went to San Diego State University and majored in finance. He fell in love with the warm weather and has lived in the area ever since. After college, Brian entered the real estate business on the financial side. First, becoming an admin assistant, then a processor, and finally a mortgage broker in La Mesa.
“Even though I loved the idea of real estate, I hated the idea of sales. I didn’t want to become a REALTOR® because I didn’t think I’d be any good at it,” he admitted. So he stayed on the lending side for quite some time.
When the market crashed in 2008, Brian began working at a foreclosure company. He handled Chase Bank’s foreclosures in 13 states and managed more than 2,500 sales in the five years he worked there. “I got an amazing amount of transactional experience and grew my confidence a ton,” he said.
In 2011, Brian decided he was finally ready to take the entrepreneurial plunge and pursue the vision that began 11 years earlier.
“When I started, I was planning on keeping it small. I soon realized I had a competitive edge that I couldn’t contain, and that my true passion was actually not just real estate… it was in building a team and a business. I love pursuing big goals with awesome people – there’s nothing better!”
“WeRevive captures the essence of what we do and why we do it,” he said. “We take the old and neglected and bring it back to life – so much better than the house was before. We are mission focused and our focus is giving back to our community.”
“We’re so incredibly proud to be partnered with the Rescue Mission. It’s not just about making money and investing. A company is the best platform to have an impact for good in our capitalistic, work-focused society. That’s what we’re doing. We’re using our business to do excellent work, and make a difference while we do it,” Brain said.
A portion of the proceeds from every house they sell goes toward their #ONE campaign. In partnership with the Rescue Mission, they’re helping provide real people in San Diego with real solutions to overcome homelessness and find hope again.
The team has grown and expanded over the years and so have their projects. In total, their WOLFPACK – the name they’ve coined for themselves – includes 22 people. They flip between 80-100 homes a year. WeRevive has also broken ground on five infill development properties that will bring much-needed affordable housing units to the area.
This wouldn’t be possible without rockstar team members like TJ Kirchoff, VP of Asset Management, and Ettienne Pieterse, Acquisition Manager. TJ oversees the entire pipeline of projects for WeRevive, and Ettienne shares Brian’s passion for building the business through win-win partnerships with REALTORS®.
In the coming years, the WeRevive team has big growth plans. They have more development properties in the pipeline and plan to move beyond San Diego. “We’re focused on getting better every single day – making better relationships with our partners, building the best housing we can, and finding ways to help address the homeless population in the area,” he said.
“None of this would be possible without our real estate partners,” Brian emphasized. “We rely on them to help us source properties and our relationships with them mean the world to us. Our business simply wouldn’t exist without our REALTORS®.”
Brian is a self-described realty nerd. “I just love what I do. I have to force myself to stop working and take breaks. Work is my hobby,” he said with a laugh. Luckily, he has a big, happy family that helps him disconnect. Brian and his wife, Tracy, have three kids – Braden (12), Kinsley (10), and Brighton (6). They love to travel, spend time together, and watch movies. They also have a proverbial zoo of animals at home – two dogs, two cats, several fish, and a couple of frogs.
