KATIE NORTON

In the competitive world of Boston real estate, Katie Norton stands out as a leading agent for Douglas Elliman with a wealth of personal experience. Though she obtained her license just in 2022, Katie's journey in real estate began long before she made it her profession.

"I’ve always had an eye for real estate transactions, whether it was a good market or not," Katie said. While raising three sons with her husband, the couple successfully bought and sold six homes. "I understand firsthand the differences between an emotional connection to the deal and a business transaction."

Katie's path to real estate was as diverse as the properties she now helps her clients find. A graduate of Suffolk University with a degree in Business Management, her career has spanned from marketing with Miller Brewing Company to event planning with The Catered Affair, a luxury event planning and catering company.

"That was truly how I learned the importance of building trust with clients," Katie said. "This trust turns to respect and ultimately into a real relationship." It's an approach she's carried into her real estate career, focusing on building strong connections with her clients rather than rushing to close deals.

This client-first approach has quickly paid dividends. In 2023, Katie was named Rookie of the Year in Boston by both Boston Agent Magazine and Douglas Elliman.

What sets Katie apart aside from her accolades is her ability to balance the emotional and practical aspects of home buying. "In residential real estate, you need to have the emotion of it too,” she said. "I usually spend the first day we look at houses just listening and watching their reactions to the different style houses we are seeing and the different neighborhoods."

Katie first found her footing in the industry working with first-time home buyers, but now her expertise also includes friends, family, and relocation clients.

"Because I was raised in Boston, went to school and started my career here, and now I'm raising my family on the South Shore, my knowledge of the suburbs surrounding Boston and all of the neighborhoods sets me apart," Katie said.

But Katie's real estate prowess isn't limited to the Boston area. Every summer, her family journeys to Nantucket, where she's expanded her business to include vacation rentals and second home purchases.

"Dealing with second home purchases is very different and for that reason it takes a unique set of skills and patience.”

With her tight-knit family comprising her husband Jim and three sons—Jack who’s 22, Ryan who’s 20, and Charlie who’s 14—she's mastered the art of work-life balance thanks to her colleagues at Elliman, “I really connected with some of the other agents at Elliman, and rather than competing with each other for business, we realized that if we help each other out with clients we can all be even more successful in work-life balance.

"Because of this, I haven’t missed a sporting event or an important school event for any of my kids and simultaneously I have not missed a deadline or a random last-minute showing request for my clients," she said.

Beyond her professional achievements, Katie is deeply committed to her community. She volunteers her time and financial support to many local organizations including Cradles to Crayons, the BC High Parents Leadership Association, Big Sister of Boston, Nantucket Boys and Girls Club, and The Newbury Cup of Boston.

As she looks to the future, Katie is excited about the potential to shape the next generation of real estate professionals. She's been consulted by her alma mater, Suffolk University, as they implement real estate courses into their curriculum.

"They’re building a fabulous program for graduates who may want to get into real estate as a career, but also the skills they will be teaching can be applied in real life when they are ready to buy their first homes.”.

For Katie, real estate isn't just about properties—it's about people, relationships, and helping clients find not just a house, but a home. With her unique blend of personal experience, professional expertise, and genuine care for her clients, Katie is not just selling real estate—she's crafting the next chapters of her clients' lives, one home at a time.
