Quiet Success: Letting Service Takes the Lead

In the competitive world of real estate, success often comes to those who can promote themselves effectively. But for Christy Kahl, it's her genuine care for people and dedication to service that sets her apart.

Christy's path to real estate wasn't a straight line. Her story begins with a friendship that changed the course of her life. "Meeting Tracey was a turning point for me," Christy reflects when meeting Tracey, the owner of 360 Realty and Christy's college roommate.  "Before that, I was meticulous, driven, and rigid. I had a structured approach to everything and colored inside the lines from my studies to my routine."

"I never thought I'd be a good real estate agent because I'm not great at self-promotion," Christy confesses. "But my friends and family saw something in me that I didn't initially recognize - my true passion for helping people."

In 2015, Christy and her family moved from Arizona to Greensboro, seeking new adventures, milder seasons and a closer proximity to family in Pittsburgh. It was here that her journey in real estate began to take shape.

Christy's entry into the field started behind the scenes. In 2019, Tracey invited Christy to join 360 Realty as the Director of Operations, managing the intricacies of real estate transactions, particularly foreclosures and reimbursements. This role allowed her to gain valuable insights into the industry's inner workings.

Encouraged by both Tracey and her husband Mike, an experienced realtor, Christy decided to obtain her real estate license. She took online classes and found that her natural inclination to connect with people and her heart for service made real estate a perfect fit. Over the past few years, Christy has worked hard to develop her unique approach to the industry, drawing from Mike and Tracey's wealth of experience while finding her own niche.

"My experience in recreational therapy and psychology helps me address clients' needs holistically, ensuring both their emotional and transactional needs are met."

Christy's unique approach to real estate is shaped by her diverse background. Her organizational skills and attention to detail, honed through various customer service based roles, have proven invaluable in managing the complex deadlines and requirements of real estate transactions.

What truly sets Christy apart is her client-centered approach. Understanding that buying a home is one of life's most stressful events, she goes beyond just addressing the business and financial aspects of a transaction. Every transaction is unique, and the real-world experience often diverges from what is taught in classes. The market's volatility, unpredictable hours, and constant need for adaptability made it a demanding field to master.

"Each client will probably display an entire spectrum of emotions during the transaction. Why not be supportive in an emotional capacity vs. just addressing the business and financial pieces?" Christy asks.

Her commitment to her clients extends to the smallest details. Christy often bakes her grandmother's homemade bread as a closing gift, adding a personal and comforting touch to the end of each transaction.

For those aspiring to excel in real estate, Christy offers this advice: "Meet clients where they are, never make assumptions, and always get negotiation terms in writing. Building trust and providing tailored services is essential because everyone is not the same."

As Christy continues to rise in the real estate industry, her success serves as a reminder that genuine care for clients and a dedication to service can be the most powerful form of self-promotion. In an industry often focused on numbers and deals, Christy Kahl stands out by putting heart into every home.

                                                        Forward from Tracey Shrouder
The very first time I met Christy, I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up. She said, “a grandma”. She described a red cheeked, chubby grandma wearing an apron and baking bread for her herd of grandchildren. That answer threw me a little, because we were 19 years old. We met in 1997 at Western Carolina University, and she has been my best friend ever since. The longer I have known her, the more I realize that answer summed her up as a person in the best way. She was telling me that she wanted to be a safe space. She wanted to shelter, love, and cook for people. She wanted to open her arms wide and bring everyone in for a big sloppy hug. I am not a hugger, so we have had to amend that some along the way.

Christy has lived all over, but she couldn’t escape North Carolina in the end. We just kept drawing her back in. Must be the Southern charm. Being from Pennsylvania, we have always noted our Northern and Southern differences, and can you believe she hates ranch and sweet tea. But this state is now her state. She brought her entire crew, and I slowly lured her into working for me as an administrator, and then as a Realtor. Her background is mental health, and what could be more perfect for a real estate agent?!

I have never met anyone that truly cares more about people than Christy does. She is completely black and white, and she lives by a high moral code. It actually shocks her when other people don’t do the same. She will jump into a real estate transaction, and she will dive deep into whatever rabbit hole she needs to go down to figure it out for her clients. They love her. They become friends, she bakes them bread, their kids have play dates, and she adds another number to her fan club.

Part of the reason Christy moved back here, was when I got sick. I know she doesn’t really admit it even to me, but she uprooted everyone to come and take care of me. To be near me, to shelter me and make me bread. There aren’t many people that love like Christy does, and man, you are honored if she is a part of your life. I am so proud of her for stepping outside of her comfort zone to take on the challenge of being a Realtor. She is so good at it. She is truly a rising star!
