Spotlighting Success Through Time

By Dave Danielson

One of the most rewarding aspects of life is having an avenue to explore new ideas and enjoy the many artistic expressions of the world.

World-Class Results
Thanks to Dave Briggs at High Point Theatre, residents of the region have long benefitted from having a world-class venue where they can enjoy these unique and memorable experiences.

Dave, who has been at the helm of the High Point Theatre for the past 13 years, retired in late June.

Dave smiles as he talks about the tradition of excellence that has been built through time at High Point Theatre … in turn, spotlighting success through time.

“In 2025, the theatre will be celebrating 50 years as a full-service performing arts center,” Dave says.

Real Advantages
As Dave points out, having a resource like the High Point Theatre is a direct benefit for those who are moving to the area.

“We’re proud that the Theatre is a big plus for people when it comes to enriching their quality of life. It’s important to have a performing arts venue that is local, so folks don’t have to travel long distances to see quality entertainment,” he says.

“It’s a very beneficial way to enjoy choirs, dance troupes, comics, music and more, including community theatre Broadway productions. It’s important that when you’re selling a home who is moving here that they are aware of that.”

Community Resource
While the stage itself has hosted some of the biggest names and most renowned productions in show business, there is much more that the community realizes from High Point Theatre. In fact, the 900-seat- capacity auditorium is accompanied by three meeting rooms.

“We present content toward the entire community, with events that are engaging,” he says.

As Dave points out, the team has built a culture of smiles.

“We want folks to come here and enjoy it from the first time they hear about us and contact us to the time they go home … with the box office, shows, merchandise and concessions. That’s the key,” Dave says.

Pride and Professionalism
It’s clear when you talk with Dave that he takes immense pride in the team of professionals at the venue. There are nine team members, including a Business Manager, a number of Technicians, as well as Marketing and Box Office staff.

“We bring people together and create an economic impact for the city and the region. We’re full- service. We handle all ticketing. When people want to produce something, we are their community resource,” Dave says.

“We can consult with you from concept to creation and work with you to read a contract. We can also determine what is needed from a technical standpoint to make it happen. We are here to be a resource. We can help them find other venues, as well.”

Partnership Through Time
There is a great sense of partnership that thrives on stage and behind the scenes. High Point Theatre is one of the places where the community comes together in powerful ways, with partnerships with the community theatre, High Point Ballet and other organizations that are able to take advantage of having a professionally run venue for their events.

As Dave thinks back on his career, including the prized time as the head of High Point Theatre, there is a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction that he feels.

“I’ve been blessed that I started out in theatre and, through time, I ended up on the management side of what I do,” he points out. “I’ve truly loved what I’ve done.”
