Mitchell Mullis
The Wolf of Real Estate
Today, Mitchell Mullis is the team leader and top agent at TMG Realty with Keller Williams, a
group that closed an impressive $80 million in 2023. Since beginning his real estate career in
2017, Mitchell has risen to become one of North Carolina’s very best agents.
It’s easy to look at someone of Mitchell’s stature and assume he has it all, but that hasn’t
always been the case. Mitchell’s story is one of trials and tribulations, obstacles overcome and
battles won.
Born in High Point and raised in Thomasville, Mitchell’s first big life challenge came when he
was five years old. His father passed away suddenly, and Mitchell was still too young to fully
comprehend what had happened. All he knew was that he’d lost his father, and life felt difficult.
“When you lose your dad at five, you don't really know what's going on, just that he's not there anymore,” Mitchell shares. “I went mute for a while. I didn't talk to anybody but my mother.”
Meanwhile, Mitchell and his family moved from house to house before landing in a trailer near
Denton when he was in fifth grade. Once Mitchell had a stable home, he got a basketball hoop;
basketball changed his life.
“I grew up very poor. Homeownership wasn't available to me and my family, but I had
basketball,” Mitchell shares. “Basketball taught me structure, hard work, teamwork, and the
concept of going after something with the potential for great return.”
As the years went on, Mitchell made a name for himself as a basketball player. In high school,
he ranked among the top 100 players in the country and was a McDonald's All-American
Honorable Mention. He eventually signed on to play at the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte, which was a top-25 school at the time.
Things were looking up, but Mitchell’s struggles caught up with him. His basketball career at
UNCC didn’t pan out, and he bounced between several colleges before leaving school
altogether.
“With college, I struck out. I had to find a job,” Mitchell continues. “So I went to work at a
furniture business for ten years, and I just went at it. I missed one day in ten years, and that
was my wedding. I used the work ethic from basketball in a manufacturing role. I really went
after it and ended up making six figures.”
After a decade in the furniture business, Mitchell wanted more. He had met his wife, Courtney,
in 2012 and aspired to better support his family. So, he listened to the advice of a good friend
and became a real estate agent in 2017.
Over the past seven years, Mitchell has thrived in real estate. He’s spent much of his career
with Keller Williams, where he remains today. His team of 12 agents closed 283 units for $80
million in 2023.
“I’ve always been a KW guy. The first time I heard Gary Keller speak, it changed my life. I love
the models, the wanting to help people and change people’s lives. That always struck a chord
with me,” Mitchell explains.
Mitchell’s tenacity has also earned him the nickname The Wolf of Real Estate. He even took
training courses with Jordan Belfort, The Wolf of Wall Street, who inspired him to push harder,
support his family, and make a positive impact.
Mitchell wants to expand his team beyond the Triad, starting with Raleigh and Myrtle Beach.
In the next five years, he hopes to have a team in every Keller Williams office in the Carolinas.
“Our motto here is The right people doing the right things at the right time. That’s who we are,” Mitchell closes.
