Raised in Durham, NC, Nick Scarnecchia, president of 6 & Fix Heating & Cooling Inc., is a second-generation HVAC expert. “I’ve always had a passion for the trade,” he remembers. “I am naturally mechanically inclined, and I grew up learning everything I could about how things work.” Nick began working in the HVAC industry with his father after school and quickly learned the trade.

Through Nick’s experiences, he realized a void for efficient, reliable, and cost-effective heating, air conditioning, and indoor quality air products, and opened up 6 & Fix Heating & Cooling, Inc. “Our skilled technicians are licensed and trained to handle routine maintenance, repairs, and replacements on residential systems, and complete installations on commercial buildings,” Nick tells us.

Through the results yielded from a focus group, 6 & Fix concluded that what homeowners want the most out of an HVAC company is immediate service; customers care less about how long a business has been open versus how quickly the business can provide what they need. “Through this knowledge, I could set us to better serve our clients,” explains Nick. “I decided to brand the business and structure our operations in order to provide same-day service for HVAC repairs.” The company’s slogan is: "Call Before 6 pm and Get Your System Fixed the Same Day!" “This led us to create the company name, 6 & Fix,” he says.

“We understand that people want to be informed, not sold,” Nick tells us. 6 & Fix conducts a multi-point inspection during each service. “Our REALTOR® partners appreciate this because we provide homeowners and REALTORS® with a comprehensive report showing a list of all necessary and immediate repairs — this report even includes photos to back up our diagnostic,” he explains. “We understand that agents have clients to answer to also. By providing our REALTOR® partners and clients with the exact information they need, in a timely and thorough manner, we can help facilitate a win-win relationship on all levels.”

Looking into the future of the business, Nick is excited to see his vision unfold. “The synergy created in our company both internally and externally has powered our exponential growth over the last few years,” he says. “I am blessed to have a growing team of people that work every day to help make sure that this business succeeds. This makes me feel so fulfilled and inspires me to be a better leader.”

As Nick’s business is growing, so is his family. He married his wife two years ago, and the couple is expecting their second little girl this summer. The Scarnecchias are huge Hurricane fans, and they enjoy attending the games together. When Nick has free time on his own, he enjoys golfing.

“I hope to be remembered as a major player in my industry – someone that helped change the status quo of the way my industry has always operated,” Nick tells us. “But, at the end of the day, in defining success in life, I think you should be proud of what you’ve created."
