Weddy Carter
Action Realty
Producing and Directing Your Next Move
Weddy Carter is always in action. “I’m a fitness freak,” she laughs. “When I have free time, I go to the gym or walk into my office fitness center to train.” Her training consists of daily weight lifting and HITT training. “I love challenges and always push myself for more,” she says. “I am also a personal trainer and got certified just for the knowledge of it.” Weddy has competed many times in bodybuilding and professional bikini competitions and has reached pro status in her category.
When she’s not working out, she can be found exploring nature or off-roading her Jeep. “Both Lea and I are Jeep owners,” she says, referring to her 21-year-old daughter. “I want to enjoy life with her as much as I can while she is still near, as we don’t know what the future holds.” Weddy says she loves to travel, and no matter where Lea decides to go, she will always visit. She says, “I am enjoying this stage of my life by living freely and will continue to evolve and embrace it as I go along the way.” She thanks God first and foremost for allowing her to do what she loves with ease, which includes the challenging and fulfilling career she has built in real estate.
“My real estate career started in 1997 in Mountain Home, Idaho,” Weddy says. “I was just 23 years old, newly married and had moved from my native Belgium to the United States.” She briefly worked as a receptionist at the Comfort Inn until she developed an interest in real estate simply by driving around her small town and witnessing its growth with new home construction. She says, “I chose a career in real estate because as a military spouse, I saw how complex finding a new home could be, Idaho had just started growing, and new construction was booming at the time.” She got licensed and joined Century 21, and within one week, she sold and listed some of her first homes. “At that moment, I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” Weddy recalls. “My long-term goal was to have my own agency in 10 years.”
In 1998, Weddy and her then-husband were relocated to Langley Air Force Base due to military orders. She immediately joined Century 21 in Newport News and hit the ground running. “I carefully timed and planned the opening of my real estate firm,” she says. “After serving the Century 21 system for 10 years and being a top producer, earning the prestigious Centurion award for many consecutive years, I was ready to jump in even deeper and open Action Realty.”
At first, she was going to open as Century 21 Action, as she was adamant about keeping the brand, but another brokerage right down the street objected to the approval of her franchise due to its proximity to their office. “I am thankful for their objections,” Weddy says. “It was a blessing because I pulled the plug for the franchise just a month before opening and decided to go with Action Realty, where we produce and direct your next move.” She chose the name because she is always in action and, with some deeper thinking, realized that selling, listing or managing a home is an entire production, with the players behind the scenes directing the process. “I came to recognize that I didn’t need a franchise as I had built my real estate career over 10 years,” Weddy says. “My clients and referrals would follow no matter what.” She has a few words of inspiration for those who are considering making big moves in their careers, saying, “My point is if you believe in something and give it your all, it will work out.”
Weddy is proud that her agents have been with her since day one and says they have helped her grow and become a better version of herself. “We are a small office, but we are a big family,” she says fondly. “I love each of them dearly and would like to thank them for continuing on this beautiful journey by my side.”
"I will always be the biggest supporter of my role model and mother, Weddy Carter. She’s taught me to be as strong as I am today, and I am so lucky. I nominate my mother for all of the best things in this world, for she deserves greatness. She is one of the most talented REALTORS® I have ever seen, and she has a way with people that helps them accomplish their goals and dreams." —Lea Carter, future entrepreneur and business owner, planning to pursue real estate and make an impact on the community.
