Clearing the Air

Working for the same company for one’s entire career used to be the norm — now it seems to be the exception.  Mike Neroni fell into the first category.

Right out of college, he started his first job in the printing industry with a local company, Day International, selling consumables used to print magazines, catalogs, newspapers and packaging. Years later, Day International was acquired by Flint Group, which eventually promoted him to Global Vice President.

With the title came a vast amount of world travel.  As he approached his 34th year in the industry, Mike was growing restless and felt the need for a change. He wanted to spend more time playing golf, enjoying family and friends, and flexibility to travel for leisure, instead of work. He began researching potential opportunities to start his own business — six months later, Ohio Valley Healthcare Solutions was born.

“I didn’t set out to target the healthcare industry, but quickly realized how many vertical markets there are in that space. It’s rapidly changing and growing, which makes it exciting and very challenging.”

Ohio Valley Healthcare Solutions offers a wide range of products and services such as state-of-the-art testing which provides more accurate and faster turnaround times for dozens of critical lab tests.

The business was gaining traction, then Covid hit — kicking everything into high gear. Mike found himself fielding calls from area senior living facilities needing Covid testing supplies with the ability to deliver timely results.

“This wasn’t the rapid testing you hear a lot about now.  This was for what’s called PCR, which is much more accurate.  We were one of few companies at the time able to offer these services.  In fact, we were serving area senior living communities months before Governor DeWine made this testing protocol mandatory.”

As the pandemic continued, it was clear there was a need for more than testing, there was an entirely new market for air purifiers. Now the company has systems that actively seek out and kill 99.9% of dozens of forms of bacteria, pathogens, and viruses, including Covid.

“This technology is far superior to what has traditionally been offered to consumers, like HEPPA filters and UV light. Our air-purification units are being used in homes, food processing plants, offices, schools, senior living facilities, and even hospitals. The list goes on and on.”

Mike admits this wasn’t the direction he envisioned Ohio Valley Healthcare Solutions to develop and grow, but his new career path is proving to be a breath of fresh air.
