Bailey Papazian

Compass

Have you ever met someone for the first time and felt you’ve known them forever? Such is the
feeling one gets when first meeting Bailey Papazian. Her welcoming smile and genuine interest
in getting to know you are on full display from the get-go. In other words (sorry Jerry McGuire)
she has you at Hello. And behind that winning personality you’ll find a very determined, smart,
driven young woman who takes great pride in her “bootstraps” work ethic, her solid values, her
culture and most importantly, her hard-working family. Born and raised in Salinas, Bailey is a
true local who followed her heart and returned to the fold, so to speak and vows to stay put.
We hear you, sister!

A sole agent with Compass since April 2021 and previously featured in this publication’s Rising
Star section in 2020, there’s no doubt Bailey has delivered on the goals she set for herself since leaving her previous high-tech career with Tesla in the Bay Area. Bailey now lives in Carmel and loves the ease of living close to work. “Prior to getting into this business, I commuted because I lived in San Francisco and worked in Palo Alto. I was in the car about 3 to 4 hours a day so this is like a dream.” Reflecting on her previous career in facilities management at Tesla she points out the skills she developed and how she’s applied them to her real estate toolbox.

“All in all, it taught me you really can do anything. You have to learn to be super adaptable.”
She points out that being charged with tasks that seemed impossible required getting
“scrappy”, as she put it. She quickly learned that thinking outside the box could bring about a
creative solution to pretty much anything. In hindsight, Bailey sees just how much she learned
from this high-pressure environment. “You look back on your experience and see that
everything kind of prepped you for where you’re supposed to be today.” It’s clear Bailey has
paid her dues, learned to adapt and gained the confidence to aim high. Having first worked with
Shankle Real Estate, she learned the ropes from the ground up. “It was a small boutique
brokerage and I knew I’d get hands-on support and training. I just started asking agents if I
could partner with them or help them. Everyone there was so gracious. I feel they really gave
me a lot of confidence.”

But Bailey had specific goals of her own and knew she wanted to manage her career in her own way. “I knew when I got into this business I wanted to be my own agent,” she admits. “I really wanted to do it on my own.” There’s no doubt this fierce young woman has done just that. The confidence she projects is not the least bit flashy or arrogant. On the contrary, she possesses a grace that is at once soothing and energizing. She’s someone you want to root for.

Coming from a close-knit, supportive family, she pays tribute to all her folks for instilling in her
the importance of treating people with respect. “My grandfather taught me a lot about
how to treat people. To this day, I meet people who ask me ‘Is your grandfather, Arnold?’ and I
still always crack up. My grandfather would go around and say ‘This is my best friend’….everyone was his best friend. He just really cared and was super genuine and really
took care of people,” she says with pure affection. Clearly, a family trait that’s been passed
down from generation to generation.

Bailey has taken the last couple of years to really self-reflect on what’s important in life from
her career to her future to her family to how she wants to spend her time. “If I’m going to sell
real estate, I want it to be in an area I’m passionate about and I’m passionate about HERE,” she says with conviction. That passion for the Peninsula is palpable and comes through with
unshakable enthusiasm. One might say she wears it like a woman determined to do it her way.
And that way is working just fine!
