AMY NUCKOLES

A Larger Purpose

What spurs you on to serve at the highest level and to continue learning and growing in the course of what you do day to day? Chances are very good that you are driven by something within you that goes beyond the surface details of any one transaction. Amy Nuckoles is fueled by that, as well.

As a REALTOR® with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Ambassador Real Estate, Amy pursues what she does each day with a larger purpose in mind. “I have a passion for people. I’ve been volunteering since I was 10 years old. One of my favorites was helping out at nursing homes. My grandma and I would go to nursing homes and spend quality time with people we did not know.  We did Meals on Wheels, Hospice, would go to soup kitchens to serve the less fortunate, delivered food to the homeless, helped in animal shelters, and organized book drives for those in need,” Amy says.

“That passion for people is what really drives me. So when I looked at what I was going to do professionally, I knew that it had to be about something bigger than myself.”

Spirit of Service
That sense of service has been a way of life for Amy. In fact, her husband, Rodney, served for 22 years in the U.S. Air Force before retiring from the service. They got married when they were 18 years old.

“He joined the military right before we got married. We are from Virginia and went to Washington State,” Amy remembers. “Throughout his career, for 16 years, I was a stay-at-home mom. I had a couple of direct sales businesses. I was young and it taught me business. I had 140 team members and made it into the top 3 percent in a year and the top 1 percent within three years. I learned a lot about business with that, and I was still at home with the girls during that time.”

On the Move
Through time, Amy, Rodney, and their family were stationed in a number of locations around the country, including Washington State, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and Texas. They moved to Omaha after Rodney retired.

Making Changes
After needing to transfer and change locations two times within two years, Amy ended her time in the business. In time, she made plans to become a physical therapy assistant. When she and Rodney were transferred to Omaha, she went through the PTA program at Clarkson College, earned her bachelor’s degree in healthcare business management, and then started working in the field. “I thought I would be in the medical industry for the rest of my career. However, COVID hit and I ended up on unemployment,” she recalls. “My neighbor walked over and told me I should be a real estate agent. My husband agreed right away. But I only knew about 20 people and I wondered if I could do it.”

After a month, she decided to take in-person classes in Lincoln, since classes were still being offered in class there at the time.

A Fast Start
Amy earned her real estate license in September 2020, and she closed her first transaction by January 2021. “I got my license, but I didn’t know how I would build a business after not knowing anyone,” Amy says. “But I ended up with my first client and it took off from there.”

In 2021, Amy recorded 19 transactions representing $5 million in sales volume. In 2022, her numbers increased to 43 transactions, representing $13.2 million in sales volume.

Today, she continues to move forward with a determined focus on serving all clients, though her niche is working with active and retired military members. “I have a passion for helping members of the military and their families because I understand their lives and what they go through,” she says. “They have a lot of challenges that most people won’t understand.”

Amy’s success is something she attributes to her faith. “I’ve always been one to pray. I asked for direction from God because I wasn’t sure how I was going to get clients. I’m a hard worker and have always had a drive for helping people. I knew I had to find a niche that worked for me,” she says. “My goal was to make my money back. I prayed, had the support of my family, and people know I have a  passion for them. It truly has moved into taking care of people.”

Family Fulfillment
Family time is at the heart of life for Amy. She treasures time with her husband, Rodney. They’ve been married for 28 years. They also look forward to time spent with their daughters — 24-year-old Alexus, along with her husband, Josh, and their daughter, Blaire, and their 18-year-old daughter Macy, who has recently joined the Air National Guard.

In her free time, Amy enjoys exercise. She also likes to read her bible and looks forward to time with her family.

Those who know Amy appreciate her willingness to set her own path in life and to follow it — separating herself from the crowd. In the process, Amy brings a strong passion for meeting the needs of others with her trustworthy and hardworking nature. They also know that her level of care for their goals stays the same no matter what.

As she says, “I don’t care if your house is $50,000 or $1 million, my work ethic and drive doesn’t change.”

Truly, Amy lives out her passion for people and her work each day … working in service to a higher purpose along the way.
