Jon Jones

All Things Lending

“Wake up with a thought to make happy whoever you can.  That’s how you bond with people and leave a legacy behind.”

Sure – if every job paid the same, and there were no restrictions, Jon Jones might become a Major League Baseball player, but in reality, he is extremely happy to be helping families and agents secure loans that make dreams become reality.  Jon has worked in lending for over two decades – having first served for many years in banking.  He had earned a degree from Marshall University in Sports Management and Marketing and worked for a time in Minor League Baseball, but his professional life can be summarized as a lengthy opportunity to teach people about securing their financial pictures to become homeowners.
Jon says that seeing families who thought that they could never own a home seated at a closing table with huge smiles never gets old.  He considers his switch from banking to Movement Mortgage to be a game-changer in his life for him.  “We have a great selection of products and a fantastic support team,” he explains, “and we are focused, available and personable.”
Agents and clients love that Jon is quite easy to speak with, and he is committed to “over-educating” them in the features of loan origination.  His explanations of the process and the “why” of needing so much support documentation takes a lot of the angst out of the process.  As Jon always says, “I do not want any surprises when that first payment comes due.”
For Jon, success is about making a better situation for his family’s life and liking to help people realize their goals and find homeownership to be fulfilling.  He learned a long time ago from a previous manager that each person/family should be treated as if that moment is the only time they will ever be with the people at Movement Mortgage.  He wants the experience to be user-friendly, enjoyable, productive and end with the best result.
Many might misunderstand the loan process, but Jon puts them at ease.  He says that no one should ever assume that they could never afford or be approved for a loan.  Of course, Jon can help many, but even if someone receives a “no” today, that is not to say that they could never convert that into a “yes” later.  Some require some education and adjustments to better their financial picture, and the team at Movement Mortgage works in collaboration to help families improve their situations.
Jon loves to work with agents who have the same goal – get families into houses, and his work experience and empathy are excellent skills to assist.  Having been on the other side of the closing table, Jon remembers very well what it is like to navigate the process of approval and buying a home.  He learned his work ethic from his family – especially his grandfather who always exemplified patience and kindness to others.
Jon and his wife, Sarah who is the RN Program Director for Restorix Health at the Cabell Huntington Hospital Center for Wound Healing have two children: Noah (13) and Anna (10).   Noah loves to play basketball and video games and Anna enjoys dancing and interacting with friends.  They attend St. Joseph’s Catholic School, and they also like to visit the park and ride bikes or spend time with their cousins.
Jon Jones is a caring and supportive guy who loves to have fun. He hopes to visit Ireland someday, and he also hopes that his legacy is defined by his honesty, trustworthiness and his hard work.  He is well on his way to that!
